The CDMA2000 Industry Leads The Way In Offering True Global Roaming Through WorldMode

As wireless customers have become accustomed to staying connected anywhere they go, CDMA2000 operators have been rapidly expanding their inter-standard roaming services to provide seamless coverage in countries where only GSM systems are available. In the past, inter-standard roaming required customers to lease or purchase a GSM phone; today, operators are offering WorldMode phone which enable customers to use one phone in both GSM and CDMA2000 markets. China Unicom, Pelephone, Sprint Nextel, Telus Mobility, Verizon Wireless and VIVO have already launched WorldMode phones, and many more operators plan to offer them soon.

WorldMode phones today operate in GSM/CDMA2000 mode in the 800/900/1800/1900 MHz bands. Chipsets with enhanced functionality, which will allow CDMA20000 subscribers to use data services on GSM/GPRS and WCDMA network and will operate in 800/900/1800/1900/21000 MHz, are on their way.
