“Open Market Handsets for CDMA2000: Setting the Standard for Device Availability and Affordability”



The CDMA Development Group (CDG) will host a live, interactive Webcast to provide an update on Open Market Handsets (OMH) for CDMA2000®. The Webcast will discuss this important industry initiative, part of CDG’s Global Handset Requirements for CDMA (GHRC) effort, that will streamline the future procurement and provisioning of CDMA2000 devices that utilize R-UIM cards.


Key topics will include:

  • Overview and market objectives of OMH
  • Trial results in India, Indonesia and Bangladesh
  • Operator preparations
  • Manufacturer support from handset OEMs and R-UIM card vendors
  • OMH-enabled device certification process
  • Operator network testing process
  • CDMA Certification Forum (CCF) update

James Person, chief operating officer of the CDG, will moderate the discussion.

  • David Hind, representing CDG, GHRC

The CDMA Development Group ( is a trade association formed to foster the worldwide development, implementation and use of CDMA2000 technologies. The more than 130 member companies of the CDG include many of the world’s largest wireless carriers and equipment manufacturers. The primary activities of the CDG include development of CDMA2000 features and services, public relations, education and seminars, regulatory affairs and international support. Currently, there are more than 500 individuals working within various CDG subcommittees on CDMA2000-related matters.
