Espanol | Portugues

HONG KONG — December 5, 2006 — The CDMA Development Group (CDG) announced today that the total number of WorldMode TM global roaming devices has reached 22 and the number of manufacturers supplying these devices has increased to 10. The WorldMode phone manufacturers include Amoi, CeCT, Daxian, Hisense, LGE, Motorola, Samsung, UTStarcom, Yulong Telecom, and ZTE.

WorldMode devices allow CDMA2000® subscribers to roam on inter-standard services, providing seamless coverage in countries where either CDMA or GSM systems are available with the use of one multi-mode, multi-band, device.

“The proliferation of WorldMode handsets demonstrates CDMA2000’s focus on creating revenue across global markets,” said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. “Based on CDMA2000’s lead in delivering 3G broadband performance, WorldMode handsets give customers the ultimate flexibility for voice, data, and multimedia applications without boundaries.”

China Unicom recently added seven new dual-mode and dual-standby handsets to its portfolio of WorldMode (World Wind) devices. These devices will be supplied by CECT, Daxian, Hisense, Samsung, Yulong Telecom, and ZTE. This brings the operator’s total number of WorldMode handsets to nine. China Unicom expects dual-mode phones to dominate the market within the next 18 months.

The following multi-mode, multi-band, CDMA2000 WorldMode global roaming devices are available in the market today.
