CDMA DEVELOPMENT GROUP CONGRATULATES GRUPO IUSACELL ON NATIONWIDE LAUNCH OF CDMA2000 1X SERVICES IN MEXICO
Iucasell to Offer 3G Voice and High-Speed Data Services
COSTA MESA, Calif., July 16, 2004 – The CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) today welcomed the nationwide commercial launch of CDMA2000 1X voice and high-speed data services in Mexico by Grupo Iusacell, S.A. de C.V., who ushered in the country’s first implementation of the technology.
The launch allows Iusacell to offer greater voice capacity and advanced data services, including Internet access at speeds of up to 144 kilobits per second (kbps), to the collective benefit of both consumer and enterprise subscribers in the region.
“The CDMA Development Group warmly welcomes Grupo Iusacell to the international family of CDMA2000 operators,” said Perry LaForge, Executive Director of the CDMA Development Group. “With this launch, the people of Mexico may enjoy an exciting new spectrum of compelling new 3G CDMA services.”
