Wireless Internet Discussion with Leading Analysts Maps Future for Advanced Services
Yankee Group and Cahners In-Stat Analysts Examined Next Generation Services During CDMA Development Group's Live, Interactive Webcast
COSTA MESA, Calif., June 5, 2000 -- During a CDMA Development Group (CDG) live, interactive Webcast this month, leading wireless analysts, Mark Lowenstein, executive vice president of wireless communications for the Yankee Group, and Ken Hyers, analyst for wireless strategies at Cahners In-Stat, discussed the future of wireless services. The focus of the discussion was the role that wireless Internet plays in the emergence of next generation services.
Additionally, Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG, pointed out that the availability of next generation (3G) services will be commercially deployed this year using CDMA 1X, which will be the first IMT 3G standard to make a commercial debut. LaForge also announced that CDMA technology's subscriber reach now totals more than 57 million worldwide. The Webcast can be viewed at www.cdg.org.
"The emergence of next generation wireless is vastly affected by the Internet as the Web is bridging the landline and wireless worlds, as well as the voice and data worlds," said Lowenstein.
