CDMA DEVELOPMENT GROUP EXPANDS WITH ADDITION OF 19 NEW COMPANIES

International Industry Association Touts Continued Growth

COSTA MESA, Calif., Dec. 18, 2000 - Building on its strong global presence in the wireless and Internet communities, the CDMA Development Group (CDG) today announced its worldwide growth, adding 19 new members to its roster.

The CDG is a non-profit international trade association formed to foster the worldwide evolution and implementation of code division multiple access (CDMA) wireless technology. Currently, there are more than 71 million worldwide mobile consumers utilizing CDMA technology.

"We are extremely pleased with the CDG's robust growth, which underscores CDMA wireless technology's popularity among businesses and consumer markets," said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. "Our membership continues to grow and evolve - we look forward to the contributions of our new members."

Following are the members that recently joined the CDG:

  • AirPrime Incorporated - is a venture-backed company focusing on the OEM marketplace for next-generation CDMA modem cards used on worldwide PCS networks
  • Airvana Inc. - is building infrastructure to deliver next-generation Wireless Multimedia and Internet services
  • BellSouth International - is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BellSouth Corporation offering telecommunications products and services in markets outside the United States, and serving more than 18 million customers in 16 countries in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
  • Ditrans Corporation - is a subscriber unit vendor based in California
  • GTRAN, Inc. - designs, develops and markets high-speed data transceiver engines for Fiber Optic and Wireless Markets
  • LinkAir - is the developer of LAS-CDMA (Large Area Synchronized Code Division Multiple Access)-a patented third and fourth generation (3G and 4G) evolution wireless technology designed to advance the performance and capacity of wireless telecommunications systems.
