Melissa May Joins CDMA Development Group as Director of Marketing Relations;
Strategic Hire to Facilitate CDG's Global Marketing Efforts
Costa Mesa, CA, Sept. 13, 1999 -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) today announced that Melissa May has been appointed director of marketing relations. May joins the CDG from Vodafone AirTouch, a global wireless operator, and is responsible for all internal and external communications for the CDG. May reports directly to Perry LaForge, executive director for the CDG.

"Her expertise in the industry, coupled with her knowledge of strategic marketing, will enhance the CDG's efforts in our global outreach programs and promoting the worldwide growth of cdmaOne(tm)."
Prior to joining the CDG, May was manager of public relations and promotions for the Southern California region of Vodafone AirTouch, serving as a primary media spokesperson. She was responsible for directing media relations, counseling senior management and managing event sponsorships and tradeshow activities for the Los Angeles market. May also developed and implemented the annual Cellular Samaritan Week to increase awareness of cellular telecommunications safety benefits, created fundraising events including the AirTouch Cellular/Red Cross Golf Tournament, and managed government and community affairs programs. With more than 12 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, May also has held senior-level public relations positions with Airborne Express, March of Dimes and AT&T.
May's professional affiliations include Public Relations Society of America, University of Phoenix, UCI Extension, Crime Stoppers, and United Way. In addition, May has received various prestigious awards including the AirTouch Cellular Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award, Public Relations Society of America PROTOS Awards, Public Relations Society of America Totem Awards, and fellowships and teaching assistantships from the University of Texas.
May holds a master of arts in industrial public relations
from the University of Texas and a bachelor of arts in public
relations and mass communications from Purdue University.
