CDG Appoints Telecom Veteran Sam Samra as Senior Director of Technology Programs

COSTA MESA, Calif., June 9, 1998 -- Reflecting its continued growth, the CDMA Development Group (CDG) today announced the appointment of Sam Samra, former director of technology planning and development for Sprint PCS, as senior director of technology programs for the CDG. In his new position, Samra -- an industry veteran with more than 26 years of telecommunications experience -- will oversee the work of CDG technical teams involved in the development of CDMA features and functions as well as applications.

"Sam brings a wealth of telecommunications experience to the organization, and we are confident that his extensive experience with CDMA technology compliments the CDG’s charter to facilitate the worldwide adoption and implementation of cdmaOne™ technology."

In addition to overseeing the CDG’s technical teams, Samra will assist the Group in the worldwide promotion of cdmaOne as well as work with national and international standards bodies to ensure that CDMA interests receive appropriate attention.

Prior to joining the CDG, Samra served as director of technology planning and development for Sprint PCS. Additionally, Samra has held director level positions with Sprint Corporation, where he provided technology planning and development support, and strategic planning to executive management. Samra holds a master’s of science in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and a master’s in business administration from Rockhurst College in Kansas City. Samra is also a registered professional engineer in Ohio and Florida and a member of IEEE.
