Sprint Spark and HD Voice Now Available in Salt Lake City and Jacksonville, Fla.

Sprint Spark and HD Voice Now Available in Salt Lake City and Jacksonville, Fla. OVERLAND PARK, Kan., February 24, 2014 - Sprint today announced that customers in Salt Lake City and Jacksonville, Fla. now have access to Sprint SparkTM and High-Definition (HD) Voice. Sprint’s all-new nationwide 4G LTE network now covers 382 markets, including new markets Detroit; Rochester, N.Y.; Manchester, N.H.; and Winston-Salem, N.C. Sprint expects to cover 250 million people with 4G LTE by mid-year.

Sprint Spark is built for data and designed to deliver peak wireless speeds of 60Mbps today on capable devices, with the potential for speeds three times as fast by late next year.1 It’s the difference between being the first to post and the last to like. It’s stutter-free video chat on-the-go and mobile gaming that leaves lag behind. Sprint Spark, a unique combination of network technologies, spectrum capacity and tri-band devices, is designed to greatly improve the performance of video and other bandwidth-intensive applications, including new generations of online gaming, virtual reality and advanced cloud services.

Customers in Salt Lake City and Jacksonville can also now experience HD Voice, a new Sprint standard for mobile phones where background noise is virtually eliminated and sound quality is dramatically enhanced.2 HD Voice is designed to provide a better experience than a landline. A typical phone without HD Voice offers four octaves of sound, but a phone with HD Voice offers seven (10 octaves is considered perfect hearing).

“Sprint’s all-new network offers significantly improved speeds, coverage and call quality,” said Bob Azzi, Sprint chief network officer. “With powerful speeds and a low-cost, unlimited data option within their Sprint Framily plan, our customers can download, stream and post as much as they want without watching the clock or worrying about expensive overage fees.”

According to a January 2014 report by RBC Capital Markets, customers noticed a significant performance improvement in Sprint Spark markets. The multimarket customer survey found a 13 percentage point improvement in customer perception of data quality, and a 17 percentage point improvement in customer perception of voice quality.

Sprint Spark is available in the following 16 cities: Austin, Texas; Baltimore; Chicago; Dallas; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston; Jacksonville, Fla.; Kansas City; Los Angeles; Miami; New York; Philadelphia; Salt Lake City; San Antonio, Texas; and Tampa, Fla. Sprint 4G LTE, available in 382 cities, also benefits customers of Sprint’s prepaid brands – Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA.
