“As a leader in the mobility revolution, Sprint will help to better position organizations to solve the unique challenges associated with simply and securely implementing new shifts in IT technology, strategy and culture,” said John Dupree, senior vice president - Business Sales, Sprint. “The promise of the cloud is unfulfilled without a superior network, and Sprint is focused on providing a dependable and continually improving network experience that enterprises can trust not just today but as their mobile data demands and operational complexity evolves. Our strategic relationship with CSC is another step in our plan to offer a comprehensive set of solutions that leverage Sprint’s Tier 1 backbone. Sprint’s announced and pending cloud solutions will help our clients take advantage of the agility and scale the cloud enables.”

Teaming to deliver IaaS

Working with CSC, Sprint’s reliable network will become the communications backbone to enable secure, high speed connectivity to CSC’s Trusted Cloud and to bring CSC’s cloud service catalog to Sprint customers. As part of this new service, Sprint also will offer compute, storage, hosting and backup capabilities to midsized and large businesses by late 2012.

“This exclusive relationship with Sprint to deliver public, private and hybrid cloud services is a win for CSC, Sprint and our mutual customers,” said Siki Giunta, vice president - Global Cloud Computing and Hosting Services, CSC. “Businesses will instantly benefit when Sprint combines its all-IP network and holistic account approach with the largest global network of cloud data centers featuring CSC’s CloudCompute infrastructure as a service. Together, Sprint and CSC will be able to support the most demanding customer-facing, back-office, or mission-critical applications of any business.”

According to IDC Chief Analyst Frank Gens, “The relationship between Sprint and CSC offers great potential for businesses to simplify, and speed up, their increasingly strategic deployments of mobile and cloud services.” According to industry analyst firm IDC, worldwide public IT cloud services revenue is projected to hit $45.5 billion by 2013[i].

Building upon SaaS portfolio of hosted business and productivity solutions

More information about Sprint’s SaaS solutions will be shared later this year and will build on the broad portfolio of IT support, office and field productivity services Sprint offers today. Working with market-leading software providers, Sprint will deliver new applications via the ”as a service” model to round out its portfolio. As businesses take advantage of the benefits of cloud-based services, Sprint plans to bundle services to create solutions that are accessed by users via the Web just about anywhere and on nearly any device. Sprint’s growing portfolio will include communication, collaboration, and IT and security services.

Continued focus on UCaaS

Also critical to Sprint’s cloud strategy is UCaaS, demonstrated by the launch of Sprint Complete Collaboration in March. As the industry’s most comprehensive hosted and fully managed UC bundle available today for businesses, Sprint Complete Collaboration is built upon a fully integrated Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution platform and delivered over an all-IP network – helping to ensure the reliability and security demanded by real-time UC and collaboration applications.

“Powered by the Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution, Sprint Complete Collaboration is able to quickly and easily deliver innovative collaboration capabilities such as Cisco desktop video experiences and Cisco Jabber on mobile phones and tablets to wherever employees are – both in and out of the office,” said Eric Schoch, general manager - Cisco Hosted Collaboration business unit. “We look forward to seeing the customer benefits of the Sprint and CSC relationship as we continue to work together to bring Sprint’s customers the option to choose the collaboration capabilities that best suit their needs – whether they be cloud-based, on premise or hybrid.”

Wholesale customers also benefit from cloud-based services

Sprint is delivering an innovative private-label cloud services platform to wholesale customers today, enabling them to quickly deliver simple and affordable brand-name software services to small and midsized businesses (SMBs). Sprint Wholesale Cloud Services provides SMB-focused resellers an innovative approach by offering a unique combination of platform services, a full suite of brand-name enablement applications and one-on-one support from experienced and dedicated experts to help them launch more quickly and with less capital outlay than if they were to create the service themselves.

Sprint Network Leadership

To ensure that demand for wireless and all-IP connectivity for converged and cloud-based solutions will be met, Sprint has embarked on a multiyear network initiative to provide faster data speeds and improved voice quality. The program, Network Vision – which will create network flexibility, reduce operating costs, and improve environmental sustainability – involves the deployment of multimode base stations across many of Sprint’s cell sites throughout the country. When deployed, Network Vision is expected to improve coverage outside and inside buildings.

Tricom Started the Process of Implementing a New Mobile Network 4G-LTE

Tricom Started the Process of Implementing a New Mobile Network 4G-LTE Holy Sunday, July 4, 2012 - The telecommunications and entertainment company Tricom announced it has signed a contract for the acquisition and implementation of systems for CDMA 1x-EVDO and LTE with Huawei Technologies to upgrade its cellular network.

The implementation of these new systems leads to Tricom to be able to offer their customers voice services and wireless data more art and performance to be offered in the Dominican telecommunications market. The announcement was made President of Tricom, Mr William Stewart, in a press release sent to media.

Among the benefits they provide to users new Tricom mobile network highlights the ability to offer Internet access at speeds well above those in the market today, from different terminals such as phones, dongles, wireless modems, wireless cards, etc.. Just as downloadable content (video, games, music, applications) and access to social networks.

On the other hand, LTE can enjoy high-definition content, in addition to more video sharing capability, video streaming, access streaming video, online gaming and services such as push to talk (push-to-talk) press to see (push-to-view) and Voice over IP. Technology also allows the discharge or exchange of any type of data traffic from point to point with a good quality of service and high speeds. Thus, designing a system capable of significantly improving the user experience with full mobility.

With the implementation to be made by Tricom, and taking into account the spectrum with which the company has, it will be able to offer significantly higher speeds than those offered in the current third-generation networks.

In making the announcement of this important initiative of Tricom, its President, Mr. William Stewart said: "We are very pleased to make contributions of this magnitude to the development of telecommunications in the Dominican Republic and especially by taking firm steps in the execution of our strategic vision, which involves putting in the hands of our customers the best technology available in the global telecommunications market, always accompanied by the highest sense and philosophy of quality service for your benefit "

On the technology acquired by Tricom:

CDMA2000 1x EV-DO Revision A:

1x Evolution-Data Optimized, originally 1x Evolution-Data Only), also referred to as 1xEV-DO, EV-DO, EVDO, or just DO, is an evolution of CDMA2000 1x with High Data Rate (High Data Rate (HDR) ) This standard interface has been called 3G IS-856. which supports data rates in the downlink (forward link) of up to 3.1 Mbps data rate in the uplink (reverse link) of up to 1.6 Mbps

LTE-4G:

LTE (Long Term Evolution) for its acronym in English, Long Term Evolution, is a new standard of the 3GPP standard.Defined for some as an evolution of the 3GPP UMTS standard and for others a new concept of evolutionary architecture (4G).

The mobile Internet is the natural evolution in countries where mobile penetration is so high compared to the penetration of personal computers. The constant use of the Internet from the mobile terminals can cause congestion and slow networks, in order to provide greater user capacity arises evolution toward 4th. Generation, achieving higher data rates.

It is said that this is the technology of the future because 4G networks are based entirely on IP protocols, with a system of systems and a network of networks, reaching after the convergence of wired and wireless network access speeds between 100 Mbps Moving to 1 Gbps at rest, maintaining a quality of service (QoS) from end to end (end-to-end) high security to allow offer of any kind at any time, anywhere, with the lowest possible cost . This basically means you can enjoy HD content on our mobile future, and use Internet services, mail, chat, still moving.

C Spire Using Alcatel-Lucent to Deploy 4G LTE High-Speed Mobile Broadband Services

C Spire Using Alcatel-Lucent to Deploy 4G LTE High-Speed Mobile Broadband Services Ridgeland, Miss., July 2, 2012 – C Spire Wireless, the only U.S. wireless provider that offers consumers and businesses a suite of personalized services, announced today that it is working with Alcatel-Lucent to build and deploy the initial phase of its 4G LTE (Fourth Generation Long Term Evolution) high-speed mobile broadband network.

The company is investing $60 million for the initial phase of 4G LTE mobile broadband services in 20 Mississippi markets beginning in September covering 2,700 square miles, a population of 1.2 million and more than 360 cell sites. The new service will provide four out of every ten consumers and businesses in Mississippi with wireless data speeds up to 10 times faster than today, allowing C Spire to be the first provider to make these services widely available in the state.

“As an industry leader in smartphone penetration, we’re excited to soon provide our customers with the speed and benefits of 4G LTE on the nation’s only personalized network,” said Kevin Hankins, chief operating officer for C Spire Wireless. “We believe that Alcatel-Lucent’s solutions and considerable global deployment experience, backed by Bell Labs’ technology and innovations, will help us deliver on our commitment to provide a personalized mobile broadband experience that gives consumers and businesses unmatched connectivity, reliability, mobility and the ability to communicate in new and innovative ways.”

C Spire is deploying Alcatel-Lucent’s industry-leading end-to-end 4G LTE solution, including base stations, IP mobile backhaul for 4G LTE and existing 3G CDMA traffic, Wireless Packet Core (WPC) and a complete IP Multi-Media Subsystem (IMS) network core, which will allow C Spire to develop and offer an increasingly rich portfolio of advanced IP-based services, such as Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), according to Eric Hollingsworth, vice president of Network Operations for C Spire Wireless.

“In addition to the IMS core, we’ll be using state-of-the-art design and solutions, such as fiber and Ethernet backhaul, at every site and the latest Remote Radio Head (RRH) and four-branch diversity receiver technology for the base stations,” said Hollingsworth. “These innovative approaches will help us maximize speed and coverage and provide our customers with a network experience that they expect from our company.”

Alcatel-Lucent is home to Bell Labs, one of the world’s foremost research centers and responsible for technology breakthroughs that have transformed the networking and communications industries, including wireless innovations with its groundbreaking product family - lightRadio™. As part of the relationship and collaboration with C Spire, Alcatel-Lucent also is providing a complete portfolio of professional and network integration services.

“Today, many providers are realizing that providing connectivity to the network is really just the beginning in terms of the types of innovative services they can offer to subscribers through technologies like LTE,” said Robert Vrij, president of Alcatel-Lucent’s Americas Region. “C Spire clearly understands the needs of the market, and has selected Alcatel-Lucent based on the strength of our portfolio, our deep domain expertise deploying networks, and our rich history of innovation, which will help them continue to deliver a new breed of personalized applications and services at the speeds consumers are now craving.”

Since announcing the initial phase of its 4G LTE plans in early March, C Spire has made significant progress in deploying key elements of its next generation high-speed mobile broadband network, including installation and testing of all major core network elements, completion of the second phase of base station equipment installation and integration of Ethernet backhaul at more than 70 percent of the 360 plus cell sites slated for 4G LTE service, according to Hollingsworth.
