MACH Extends Industry Leading Financial Settlement Solution To Mobile Content and SMS Interworking

MACH Extends Industry Leading Financial Settlement Solution To Mobile Content and SMS Interworking Luxembourg, 27th October 2010 – Leading provider of hub-based mobile communication solutions, MACH, today announces Version 2.0 of its industry leading financial clearing and settlement solution. Version 2.0 extends the benefits of outsourced settlement in the roaming world - optimised cash flow and maximised efficiency - to the mobile content and SMS Interworking (IW) worlds, further simplifying the billing and reconciliation process for MNOs.

“With more than 60% of the outsourced mobile financial clearing market and a customer base of more than 300 MNOs, MACH is the only solutions provider with a large enough customer base to be able to operate its unique Multilateral Settlement Pool (MLSP), which we are now extending to even more operator transactions,” said Artur Michalczyk, General Manager, Roaming and Interconnect Solutions, MACH. “Our vision is to be part of every transaction in today’s connected world. The unparalleled one-stop roaming, SMS IW and content and applications settlement solution being announced today is a major move towards achieving that aim.”

The new MACH solution enables mobile operators to easily settle with content and application stores in the currency of their choice, drastically simplifying a complex process involving multiple currencies and large numbers of content partners. When coupled with its Mobile Payment Gateway solution, which enables subscribers to pay for content and apps through their mobile phone bill (a method proven to improve payment success by up to 13 times when compared with credit card payments on mobile phones*), MACH is one of a very few providers who can now offer a global settlement capability integrated with one click billing.

According to figures from the Economist Intelligence Unit, mobile operators expect app downloads to become their biggest source of income in developed markets within three years, with app revenues expected to overtake voice by 2013. Norbert Scholz, Principal Analyst, Gartner, explains: “If MNOs are to really maximise this potential opportunity, monetisation for both the operator and content provider will be key. This solution is a significant step towards the simplification of that ideal.”

Payment to mobile application providers and content stores can be handled by MACH’s MLSP, which unlike bilateral settlement solutions, consolidates multiple payment transactions into one settlement transaction per member. This capability is all the more powerful when all three payments – roaming, SMS IW and content/applications - can be settled as one netted amount , so minimizing cash flow and maximizing efficiency for MNOs, while providing full visibility of transactions.

“The ability to react and reconcile is fundamental to today’s mobile operators. Outsourcing financial settlement transactions means that they are able to not just simplify but also to significantly speed up the process – receiving one financial statement which captures all roaming, SMS IW and mobile content payments,” explains Bernard Eymael, Business Development Director at MACH. “Access to our unique MLSP, means that the settlement puzzle can be more easily navigated, delivering significant efficiencies and reducing operating expenses drastically.”

Sprint Enhances Its Application Developer Website to Offer Developers More Tools and Resources to Create Innovative Apps OVERLAND PARK, Kan., October 26, 2010 - Today, at the Sprint Developer Conference, Sprint announced enhancements to its Sprint Application Developer website with the introduction of the Sprint Services Framework. The Sprint Services Framework provides a single web 2.0 interface for developers to access application programming interfaces (API’s) directly from Sprint that offers developers seamless capabilities across most Sprint devices including mobile handsets and embedded devices, operating systems and development environments including web pages and applications.

Through the Sprint Services Framework, developers can obtain in-depth information on each service capability including:

• Overview information

• Videos that showcase the service capabilities

• Interactive demonstrations that the developer can use in real time

• Customer testimonials highlighting how developers are using Sprint Services Framework

• Use cases highlighting the use of a combination of the service capabilities in the Sprint Services Framework

Developers also can utilize network services such as location based services (LBS), SMS, MMS, geofence and presence through the Sprint Services Framework. They can experiment with the API’s through the Sprint Developer Sandbox and utilize developer guides, sample code and emulators that are available on the ADP website. Once the developer is ready to integrate the API into code for production use, they can simply purchase those services directly from the website.

In addition, Sprint is providing access to third-party value added services that developers can purchase to further optimize their applications or solutions.

Analytics:

• Ground Truth -- The Ground Truth™ Applications Analytics tool can provide developers with the ability to access aggregate data on demographics, while providing usage and custom events data on their applications with an intuitive, Web-based interface for Android and RIM with future plans to support Windows, Palm webOS and Java. All developers who register with Sprint will have access to this analytics solution and will be able to measure all of their applications across the supported platforms with one easy tool. Developers can register today at www.sprintanalytics.com to begin using the service at no charge.

• Bango – Bango Analytics provides Sprint developers with a complete view of their mobile application business, across all mobile platforms and channels. Sprint developers can download Bango’s Software Development Kit, allowing them to get standardized and independent data about their app activity in real-time. Bango Analytics also fully integrates with Bango Payment, enabling developers to relate application usage to revenues generated from end user payments and ads.

Location Based Services:

• AirSage – Sprint has partnered with AirSage to offer developers a new location based services option. Developers can also work with AirSage directly to access additional value added services. AirSage provides comprehensive population location and movement information derived from wireless signaling data. AirSage’s patented data collection and analysis platform processes over 3 billion device locations every day. AirSage offers a suite of products reporting vehicle traffic and population movement patterns, as well as real-time and historical data sets to power mobile marketing, consumer behavior analysis, market analytics, and other location-aware applications.

• Location Labs (coming soon) – Sprint has partnered with Location Labs, the leading provider of mobile location-as-a-service infrastructure and applications, to include it’s new Sparkle Technology on future Smartphones. This new Smartphone location infrastructure and Web services API will help our ecosystem extend existing applications and create new services that leverage hybrid Smartphone location and controls with geofencing and location, all delivered by Location Labs.

Barcode Scanning Services:

• ScanLife – ScanLife offers a wide variety of developer tools that enable a complete mobile barcode solution. The ScanLife software development kit (SDK) converts virtually any camera phone into a barcode scanner to read standard 2D barcode formats including QR Code, Datamatrix, EZcode; and 1D formats such as UPC/EAN. The ScanLife API’s can help generate, manage, and track 2D codes to mobilize a wide variety of digital content. In seconds, create codes that link to app downloads, business listings, contact information, and much more. http://developer.scanlife.com.

M2M/Prototyping Services:

• Bug Labs – Bug Labs offers M2M product development and deployment solutions that help enterprises significantly reduce the time and cost associated with bringing wireless devices to market. HP Introduces webOS 2.0, the Next Generation of Mobile Innovation

HP Introduces webOS 2.0, the Next Generation of Mobile Innovation PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 19, 2010 - HP today announced HP webOS 2.0, the most significant update to the platform since its launch in 2009 and a substantial step in HP's vision to transform how people think, feel and connect.

The first device to run webOS 2.0, HP's new Palm Pre 2 smartphone, will be available on Friday in France from SFR and is scheduled to be available in the coming months in the United States from Verizon Wireless and in Canada.

"With webOS 2.0, we're advancing the innovations we introduced 16 months ago, expanding the features that make webOS great for consumers, enterprises and developers," said Jon Rubinstein, senior vice president and general manager, Palm Global Business Unit, HP. "We've made tremendous strides since the platform launched, and now we're taking our biggest leap forward with powerful new features that make it easier to get more things done with your webOS device."

webOS 2.0 offers consumers compelling application experiences not available on any other platform, while providing developers an unparalleled level of openness to integrate their applications and services. The next generation of webOS makes it easier to get more done:

• True Multitasking - Pause a game, tap an email notification, check your calendar, read a restaurant review, send an email reply, then switch back to the game without closing anything.(1,2) webOS lets you easily manage multiple open applications and notifications using natural touch gestures. New in webOS 2.0, Stacks logically groups together your open apps so they work the way you do. Whether you're reading email or planning a night on the town, Stacks keeps related items together so managing multiple tasks is even easier.

• Just Type - Start an email, create a message, update your status, search your favorite websites - all before you've even opened an app.(1) With webOS 2.0, whenever you want to do something on your phone - whether it's emailing, texting, searching or almost anything - just type. And Just Type is open to developers, so they can integrate with the search function and add their own user-customizable shortcuts, called Quick Actions.

• HP Synergy - webOS was the first mobile OS to connect you seamlessly to multiple web services. With the Synergy feature, you just have to sign in to your Facebook, Google, Microsoft® Exchange, LinkedIn and Yahoo! accounts and your information automatically populates your phone.(3) webOS 2.0 will extend the support for Synergy so developers can easily plug new Messaging, Contacts and Calendar application sources directly into the core webOS experiences.(4)

• Exhibition - A new way to use your webOS phone, Exhibition lets you run apps designed specifically for the Palm Touchstone Charging Dock, turning charge time into useful time.(4, 5) Set your phone on the dock and Exhibition launches automatically, showing you anything from today's agenda to a slideshow of your Facebook photos. Exhibition will enable developers to display aspects of their existing app experience or create specialized apps for use when users have their webOS device in charge mode on the charging dock.

• Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 Beta - With version 2.0, webOS now supports a beta of Adobe Flash Player 10.1 in the browser, which provides access to rich, Flash based web content.(6)

webOS 2.0 also includes many more new features, including the following:

• Favorites - With webOS 2.0, you can tag your favorite contacts so they appear as favorites in Phone and Contacts views. When you search for them by name, they instantly show up at the top of the Contacts, Email, Messaging and Phone apps. Favorites make it simple to get in touch fast.

• Skype Mobile™ (Verizon Wireless only) - For Verizon Wireless customers, webOS 2.0 supports Skype-to-Skype calls and messaging while in the United States to anywhere in the world, and low-rate calls to international landlines and cell phones.

• Text Assist - webOS 2.0 offers greatly expanded capabilities to spell check, auto correct, set up macros and customize the dictionary.

• Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite - An all-new document viewer from the leading provider of mobile document viewers offers support for Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents and provides integration with a variety of services, including Google Docs and Dropbox.

• Facebook 2.0 - Available via the Palm App Catalog, Facebook 2.0 will support Facebook IM via Synergy in the Messaging application,(4) as well as Stacks, status updates via Quick Action and the Exhibition feature.

• Browser - The browser adds support for more HTML5 features, including geolocation support. OpenSearch plugin support makes it easy to add your favorite websites to Just Type web search.

• Messaging - The unified Messaging app in webOS 2.0 adds Yahoo! IM and buddy management. Customers can now connect to their buddies through SMS, MMS, Google Talk, AIM and Yahoo! IM.

• VPN - webOS 2.0 supports the most popular ways to connect to a corporate network, including IPsec and Cisco AnyConnect mobile optimized VPN, which supports SSL (TLS and DTLS).

• App Catalog - The redesigned Palm App Catalog makes finding and discovering great apps even easier.(7) And the new Software Manager helps you keep your apps up-to-date.

• Launcher - A redesigned app launcher lets you add, label and reorder launcher pages.

• Phone - The webOS 2.0 Phone app lets you easily dial your favorites and offers reverse area code lookup and Skype Mobile integration (Skype Mobile for Verizon Wireless only).

• Accounts - The new Accounts app provides a single place to manage all your Synergy accounts.

• Bluetooth® keyboards - webOS now supports Bluetooth keyboards and Bluetooth SPP peripherals, enabling applications such as barcode readers and realty lock boxes.

• A host of developer features - In addition to Exhibition, Just Type and Synergy APIs, webOS 2.0 adds Node.JS, enabling developers to create services in JavaScript. They also can now use the webOS Plug-In Development Kit (PDK) to combine C/C++ with web technologies in a single app.

More information about the features of webOS 2.0 is available at www.palm.com/softwareupdate. Introducing Palm Pre 2

What’s Next, Now? Sprint Has Redefined M2M Opportunities for Businesses Only 12 Months After Launching Emerging Solutions Unit

What’s Next, Now? Sprint Has Redefined M2M Opportunities for Businesses Only 12 Months After Launching Emerging Solutions Unit SAN FRANCISCO, October 07, 2010 - Only 12 months after launching its Emerging Solutions Group (ESG), Sprint has fulfilled its promise to offer a comprehensive suite of M2M solutions and tools to business and consumers – supported by Sprint’s unique network options and an open, collaborative approach to helping companies rapidly develop their M2M ideas. Sprint is making connected-device innovation a true hands-on experience for businesses as they discover the money-making power of M2M – the machine-to-machine phenomenon that takes wireless beyond the mobile phone by interconnecting a vast variety of electronic devices.

Today at CTIA ENTERPRISE AND APPLICATIONS™ 2010, Sprint announced the Oct. 25 opening of Sprint’s M2M Collaboration Center and the upcoming launch of Sprint’s Command Center – two signature M2M initiatives that will help businesses of all sizes get more deeply engaged in developing and managing their device-to-device ideas. Sprint also announced important new additions to its M2M partner ecosystem.

Sprint’s latest M2M initiatives provide an unprecedented level of support for customers as they enhance productivity and create entirely new products and services with M2M, which wirelessly connects such devices as laptops, tablets, digital billboards, cameras, remote sensors, utility meters and appliances. Sprint helps customers explore new M2M applications using Sprint’s reliable 3G, ultra-fast 4G and IP networks, along with an array of solutions expertise from Sprint and its extensive partner ecosystem.

Sprint Sets Standard for Open M2M Resources

In the year since its formation, the Sprint Emerging Solutions Group has developed a comprehensive set of solutions and support services to help companies compete in the M2M market, including these latest announcements:

Sprint M2M Collaboration Center: The Center opens this month as an actual working laboratory that brings customers a genuinely open approach to M2M development. A short drive from Silicon Valley in Burlingame, Calif., the facility goes far beyond mere demonstrations and corporate presentations. The M2M Collaboration Center is a true roll-up-your-sleeves workshop, where customers can work side by side with an extensive team of experts to bring M2M ideas to life and make them commercially viable. This facility gives Sprint business customers the opportunity to thoroughly engage with Sprint’s network and solutions team, along with experts from Sprint’s wide-ranging ecosystem of specialized M2M partners. It is a natural outgrowth of Sprint’s open approach, including 10 years of experience certifying non-Sprint-branded devices on its networks and the company’s Open Device Initiative.

Sprint Command Center: Starting in 2011, businesses can access the Sprint Command Center to manage their M2M devices using self-service access. Businesses can view the Sprint Command Center dashboard on their office or mobile computer screens, then interactively load and manage their M2M devices directly on the Sprint network. Utilizing dedicated network elements, this open access service offers M2M customers unprecedented network control, including device management and testing (with enhanced visibility to device behaviors), account management and tools to develop applications for M2M solutions. In addition, the Sprint Command Center will be customizable, provide unique billing capabilities and integrate professional and managed services features and capabilities.

“Businesses are recognizing the compelling opportunities in M2M across nearly all industry sectors, and Sprint is uniquely prepared to serve as a vital partner in helping those companies actualize their M2M ideas,” said Danny Bowman, president-Sprint Integrated Solutions Group. “A year ago, we committed to take the M2M lead by launching our Emerging Solutions Group and by introducing a full complement of M2M and embedded solutions, services and ecosystem capabilities. Our promised set of strong M2M capabilities is a reality and becomes even more valuable with today’s announcement of the Sprint M2M Collaboration Center, the Sprint Command Center and the ongoing expansion of our partner ecosystem.”

Sprint M2M Partner Ecosystem Continues to Expand

The recent addition of new M2M partners further enhances the rich set of specialized expertise and capabilities in Sprint’s M2M toolkit. Today we’re announcing:

Fusion Wireless – Sprint has partnered with San Diego-based module provider Fusion Wireless. This partnership enables Sprint to offer a wide range of competitively priced CDMA chip modules for embedded device partners.

Reflection Solutions, LLC – Reflection, powered by AFrame Digital, offers a wireless telehealth solution harnessing the power of Sprint’s 3G and 4G networks to deliver this healthcare monitoring system. The solution also utilizes the ZigBee drop-in networking capabilities of industry leader Digi International.

Wyless – Sprint partner and leading global M2M-enabler Wyless offers cost-effective end-to-end managed services, helping OEMs and application developers deploy reliable M2M applications on the Sprint network. Wyless delivers a comprehensive suite of managed services with unrivalled expertise, professional support and competitive pricing.

During the third quarter, new smart grid partnerships with Grid Net and Landis+Gyr were announced, as well as new platform-as-a-service partner, VisTracks. The addition of these partners backs up Sprint’s commitment to assist customers in a variety of industries as they transform their business models using 3G and 4G mobile broadband.

“There is massive, unlimited growth potential in the M2M and embedded computing space, and Sprint is proud to work with cutting-edge partners to provide comprehensive solutions to bring entrepreneurial ideas to life,” said Wayne Ward, vice-president-Sprint Emerging Solutions Group.

Today’s announcements are the latest in a series of 2010 developments marking Sprint’s steadily expanding position as the trusted go-to partner for M2M and embedded solutions:

• In August, Sprint launched www.sprint.com/m2m, its online resource for businesses interested in exploring M2M opportunities. Designed for companies of all sizes, www.sprint.com/m2m offers in-depth guidance on the tools and processes businesses need to implement their ideas for device connectivity using emerging wireless and wireline solutions. The website features an introduction to Sprint’s differentiated solutions capabilities; a click-by-click look at Sprint’s four-step process for bringing entrepreneurial device-to-device ideas to life; solution-by-solution descriptions of Sprint’s offerings in many different M2M categories; and special news updates on M2M developments (including Sprint product, service and partner announcements, along with key industry events related to M2M).

• In June, the company cited several customers for their innovative M2M solutions, including the Alzheimer’s Association, Amtrak, Continental Airlines, Dominican Hospital, Red Bull and 504 Restaurant, Washington Redskins Fed Ex Field, and the 2010 Maloof Money Cup.

• In March, Sprint announced partnerships with Axeda, Lenovo, Walsh Wireless and Top Global. Those companies joined such high-profile Sprint partners as Drive.Cam, Ford Motor Company (Ford Work Solutions), M2M DataSmart, Numerex, and XATA. Sprint partners provide specialized, leading-edge technology and expertise in asset and people tracking, digital signage, fleet and telematics, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing and logistics, mobile computing, point-of-sale, public safety, remote monitoring and control, SmartGrid, and wireless routers and modems.

Sprint has teamed up with some of the most recognizable brands in the country to bring this revolutionary experience to customers – brands including Amazon, Blackboard, Comcast, Disney, E!, Electronic Arts, eBay, ESPN, HSN, LatCel, MTV, Notre Dame, Oprah Winfrey Network, RadioShack, Weather Channel, Where and Yahoo!

Sprint customers can customize their device with up to five ID packs. Once an ID is loaded – easily in one quick step and free with a select service plan – users can further customize it with additional apps and content. ID packs can be easily switched out without customers losing the apps and content they value most. Because Sprint ID packs are built using the Android platform, the ID packs work across various manufacturers and will launch on three Android handsets – Sanyo Zio™, Samsung Transform™ and LG Optimus S™. A range of lifestyle packs, plus Yahoo!, game packs from Electronic Arts and business packs, will be immediately available with more packs rolling out in this quarter and beyond.

“Sprint ID is another innovative Sprint ‘first’ which revolutionizes the wireless customer experience, and it’s a new way to leverage our open mobile strategy,” said Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint. “As the market for mobile applications expands, mobile users want a simpler way to access the data most relevant to their needs at that time. Sprint ID offers unprecedented customization and personalization. Businesses will be able to deliver innovative, customized resources on mobile devices to their employees. We have an outstanding group of partners – some of the best brands in the U.S. – helping us deliver this new mobile experience to consumers.”

According to Yankee Group, store revenue from smartphone app downloads will exceed $11 billion in 2014, up from more than $800 million in 2009.

“With Sprint ID’s dynamic shaping of the Android user experience, Sprint has created a unique approach to helping top brands and corporate customers take full advantage of the dramatic growth of the Android ecosystem,” said Andy Castonguay, director at Yankee Group. “With Android device growth out pacing a burgeoning field of smartphones, Sprint ID gives companies a rich canvas to leverage that growth and design a multiscreen, interactive experience that provides content and apps to their audiences.”

Consumers will enjoy the ease with which they can access a customized experience on their phone that will support their interests whether they are at work or at play.

Companies including Amazon, Disney, E!, eBay, Electronic Arts, ESPN, HSN, LatCel, MTV and Yahoo! support the Sprint ID approach and signed on as founding partners to provide customers a unique, customized and specific mobile experience. Many will launch Sprint ID packs between now and the first half of 2011.

Here is what some Sprint partners have to say about Sprint ID.

eBay says:

“Smartphone technologies are transforming the mobile phone into the new digital wallet and consumers are clearly using their phones to shop,” said Steve Yankovich, vice president-Mobile and Platform Business Solutions, eBay Inc. “Our Sprint ID pack will help us make the most of that trend by making eBay’s mobile applications more discoverable and acting as an information hub so that shoppers never miss out on great deals and items they’re watching, bidding on or buying. Our ID will also notify users about new eBay apps or features we have released.”

ESPN says:

“Sprint ID is another way ESPN and Sprint continue to work together to bring ESPN to our fans,” said John Kosner, senior vice president and general manager of ESPN Digital Media. “This year we launched the ESPN Mobile TV Channel on Sprint TV, which delivers extensive live sporting events. Now, Sprint ID will enable fans to create a richer, more personalized content experience on their phones than ever before.”

E! says:

“The E! ID pack will make it easy to access the breaking entertainment news, photos and videos fans of E! can’t live without, while delivering a unique user experience that includes “Everything E!” – all in one convenient location, your Android device,” said John Najarian, executive vice president-Digital Media & Business Development for the Comcast Entertainment Group. “We know our audience is passionate about all things entertainment and they’re always looking to have the latest Hollywood buzz right at their fingertips. We’ve taken this into consideration and designed our Sprint ID pack to take advantage of all of the terrific features that the Android platform enables for our content.”

MTV says:

“MTV has become a trusted source for providing fans access to their favorite artists and music across multiple screens,” said Dermot McCormack, executive vice president, Digital Media, MTV Networks. “The MTV and Sprint partnership allows fans to stay connected to each other and to the music that they love where ever they happen to be.”

Oprah Winfrey Network says:

"We are excited to be part of this new communications platform, which will allow fans the ability to enjoy the rich, compelling programming they've come to expect from Harpo Studios on a new generation of handsets and phones with our Oprah Mobile app,” said Erik Logan, president, Harpo Studios. “We're proud to be part of Sprint's continuing efforts to provide their customers with the best programming available, wherever they are."

Yahoo! says:

“As a leader in delivering personally relevant mobile Internet experiences to millions of users around the world, Yahoo! is excited to provide Sprint users a Yahoo! ID pack offering easy access to 12 different Yahoo! apps directly on their Android phone,” said Raymond Stern, senior vice president-North America Audience, Yahoo! Inc. “With one-click access, Sprint users can stay in-the-know as well as connect with the people who are important to them through Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Sports, Yahoo! Finance, Flickr, Yahoo! Weather, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger and more – all in one place.”

What Sprint ID means for businesses:

Companies can build a branded user experience for their employees and their business-to-business customers. Sprint ID represents an innovative mobile solution that businesses will value for its flexibility and other advantages.

For businesses – especially large enterprises – deploying Sprint ID gives employees in multiple locations instant access to corporate applications and data on mobile phones. Customizing the user interface for employees fosters greater productivity, improves employee satisfaction and streamlines processes. It also can reduce IT costs by decentralizing deployment of applications, tools and widgets to employees.

A couple examples include Sales Force ID, which provides access to time and expense reporting, CRM, navigation/driving directions and product collateral, and Field Service ID, which provides access to turn-by-turn driving directions, a third-party work order application and a fleet management application. In addition, business customers can easily establish the kind of corporate image they want on their device for daily business by downloading a business-related ID pack – but when the employee goes home they can switch to their evening or weekend ID pack.

Handmark has created 10 different packs, available when the new Sprint ID phones launch, that bundle together the best apps, widgets and content to meet a specific need or interest. For example, the Business Pro ID Pack features all the best tools to assist with travel plans, expenses, organization and communication.

“Sprint ID packs broaden the smartphone experience to a new set of consumers and business users who want to enjoy all mobile data can do, but given the overwhelming array of choices, appreciate having applications best suited for them hand selected and assembled,” said Paul Reddick, CEO of Handmark Inc. “The 10 different special interest packs we've created provide a great starting point for users by automatically populating their smartphone with the best collection of apps tailored to their interests.”

Santa Fe Towing says:

“Sprint ID represents a big opportunity for us," said Jon Kupchin, president of Santa Fe Tow. "We have offices in four different cities and 60 staff, including 54 drivers. It’s challenging to keep it all running efficiently at times. Sprint ID gives us the tools to tighten up the administrative part of our business, track driver productivity better using a handheld device, and potentially cut costs on fuel, forms and HR-related functions. And it’s easy to use – almost intuitive for our drivers, office people and everyone else who's used it so far.”

What Sprint ID means for Hispanic users:

Sprint ID allows Hispanic customers to flow seamlessly between bicultural and bilingual worlds by providing both English and Spanish language content and the ability to easily switch between languages while texting or e-mailing.

LatCel says:

“It is important to ensure that Latinos have a choice with access to varied mobile content to fit their different needs and language preferences,” said Jorge Rincon, CEO of LatCel, a Latino Mobile Media company. “LatCel is excited to be able to offer the Hispanic consumer three different Lo2Yo ID packs at launch. The ‘Lo2Yo Futbol’ ID pack is perfect for the avid soccer fan while the ‘Lo2Yo Mujer’ pack is customized to the Latina, whether young and single or a career woman with children. And the ‘Lo2Yo Latino’ ID pack has a bit of everything for all Hispanics. The Hispanic population is growing at an unprecedented rate, so it is imperative that we both continue to evolve these initial packs with additional content as well as add new packs that fit even more specific lifestyles and preferences of this target.”

What Sprint ID means for students:

Sprint ID allows universities to create ID packs that can serve as a mobile tool for students and faculty, which will enhance their educational experience. For example, packs may allow students to receive updates and alerts on grades, assignments, tests and other information from courses they are taking, as well as sports schedules and news about their home team. Packs also can include widgets to the local pizza shop or other local, relevant content.

Notre Dame says:

“Notre Dame looks forward to working with Sprint on how the latest advances in telecommunications services can enhance teaching, learning and research efforts in higher education,” said Ron Kraemer, CIO and vice president for IT, University of Notre Dame. “The wireless communications world is moving at a transformable speed, and applications and platforms such as Sprint ID may hold promise for Notre Dame and other leading research universities.”

Blackboard says:

“This effort is a big step in making the mobile experience more personal,” said Eric Denman, Senior Manager of Java Development at Blackboard Mobile, which creates mobile applications for education institutions worldwide. “We’re anxious to begin exploring ways our clients can use this to make the mobile experience more immersive for their users.”

Application Developers

Developers will appreciate Sprint ID for the opportunity it offers to help their apps reach the consumers and businesses who will value them the most.

The Sprint Application Developer Program will offer support to developers for Sprint ID through the developer website at http://developer.sprint.com/sprintid. More details about Sprint ID will be announced at the 10th annual Sprint Open Developer Conference, Oct. 26-28, Santa Clara, Calif. During the conference, Sprint ID will be featured in breakout sessions, discussed during the Android coding lab and demonstrated in the exhibit hall. Developers can register for the conference at http://developer.sprint.com/devcon2010.

Sprint Announces Sanyo Zio Featuring Sprint ID for a Personalized Android Experience at a Great Value

Sprint Announces Sanyo Zio Featuring Sprint ID for a Personalized Android Experience at a Great Value SAN FRANCISCO, October 06, 2010 - Proving that a wireless device can be smart, attractive and unique to each individual, the Android™-powered Sanyo Zio™ will launch with Sprint (NYSE: S) on Oct. 10. At the CTIA Enterprise & Applications trade show today, Sprint and Kyocera Communications Inc., provider of Kyocera- and Sanyo-branded wireless devices, announced the launch of the new smartphone to coincide with the rollout of Sprint ID, a user-friendly new means of personalizing Android devices.

With a focus on making the Android experience accessible to those looking for a phone priced under $100, Zio will cost just $99.99 with a new two-year service agreement or eligible upgrade and after a $100 mail-in rebate (pricing excludes surcharges and taxes). It will be available in all Sprint retail channels, including www.sprint.com and 1-800-SPRINT1.

Sprint ID allows Zio users to quickly download ID packs that deliver a predefined experience, including applications, widgets, ringtones and wallpapers, all at once. Packs are designed to meet customers’ interests, whether they are sports fans, fitness fanatics, auto enthusiasts or more. The packs could be brand-specific; allow users to easily switch between English or Spanish; or be specifically tailored to the customers’ businesses or lines of work. The marketplace of Sprint ID experiences is growing and customers can have one or up to five on their devices, powered by the Now Network.

”With Sprint ID, Zio introduces a new level of personalization that allows users to completely customize their devices to match their hobbies, interests or personalities,” said Fared Adib, vice president-Product Development, Sprint. “Each ID offers a variety of unique apps, widgets, wallpapers and ringtones and gives users the opportunity to customize their devices. Pairing Sprint ID with Zio, a robust and easy-to-use Android 2.1 device, offers a rich multimedia experience with a large intuitive touch-screen at an amazing price.”

The intelligently sleek device with the customizable Android 2.1 operating system opens new realms of rich multimedia experiences with a 3.5-inch WVGA touch-screen, 3.2 MP camera and 30-frame-per-second video record and playback. The handset’s high-resolution, touch-screen display is like carrying a flatscreen TV that fits in a pocket.

Designed with productivity and entertainment in mind, Zio boasts multiple keyboard options, all with haptic feedback, an accelerometer to rotate between landscape and portrait orientations and an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts screen brightness to optimize viewing. The easy-to-use trackball also helps users navigate between the seemingly endless features found on Zio, including address book integration with such social apps as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace; GPS functionality and digital compass plus preloaded Google Maps™; media player for streaming videos; full HTML Web browser; and a full library of more than 80,000 widgets and applications available from Android Market™. Zio also features a pre-loaded Exchange Email application that supports corporate Outlook e-mail, calendar, contacts and tasks, while also supporting ActiveSync and enhanced security features.

“We are confident that Zio’s blend of style, functionality and affordability will make the virtually unlimited customization and personalization of Android available to entirely new groups of consumers who were intimidated by the technology or price of previous smartphones,” said Yasuhiro Oishi, vice president of Sales and Marketing at Kyocera Communications Inc. “Zio humanizes the technology and puts the power of Android in a sleek, attractive device.”

As beautiful as it is powerful, Zio is only 0.5 inches thick and weighs only 3.7 ounces, making it one of the thinnest, lightest Android devices on the market. The jet-black exterior is trimmed in silver with a soft-touch back that helps ensure that it won’t slip out of your hands. With 512MB of internal memory, a 2GB microSD memory card (provided in box) and support for up to 32GB microSDHC cards, Zio can handle even the most robust of applications.

Find Your Own “Best of Android” with Sprint ID

Sprint ID brings together content into themed packs that can be deployed on Zio at the touch of a button. Zio users can load up to five Sprint ID packs on their phones and change themes on a whim as the mood strikes. Specific packs can even be further customized – adding or removing elements to match preferences – while the MyID function allows users to define and create their own application packs.

Zio requires activation on one of Sprint’s Everything Data plans. For just $69.99 Sprint’s Everything Data 450 plan with Any Mobile, AnytimeSM gives customers unlimited text, Web and calling with any mobile in America while on the Nationwide Sprint Network – all for the same price AT&T and Verizon charge for unlimited talk only (excluding Verizon’s Southern California plan; pricing excludes surcharges and taxes).

Sprint Everything Data plans automatically enroll customers in the Sprint Premier loyalty program, for benefits including annual device upgrades on the primary line. Existing Sprint customers can switch to an Everything Data plan without extending their service agreement. New lines of service require a two-year service agreement.

The Sprint Free Guarantee is the only full-money back guarantee on service plans in the wireless industry today, allowing customers to try a new line of service with Sprint for 30 days. If a customer isn’t completely satisfied, they can cancel service and return their device to be reimbursed for the device purchase and activation fee, get the early termination fee waived, get a full refund for monthly service plan recurring charges incurred, and get all associated taxes and fees waived. In addition, Sprint will waive the restocking fee for new customer exchanges as part of this policy. Refund excludes usage not included in the service plan, premium content, third-party billing and international charges.
