U.S. Cellular Launches Mobile Broadband October 28, 2008 -U.S. Cellular today launched Mobile Broadband, a service allowing customers to access data on their cell phones 10 times faster than before. It brings DSL-like service and capabilities for customers through EVDO (Evolution-Data Optimized) technology, commonly referred to as 3G.

The service launched in Chicago, Rockford, Ill., northwestern Indiana, Tulsa, Okla., Des Moines, Iowa and southern Wisconsin, with more cities to follow in early 2009.

"Our customers will get more bang for their buck with Mobile Broadband," said Alan Ferber, vice president of sales operations and chief marketing officer for U.S. Cellular. "Mobile Broadband capability provides faster Internet access, which allows users to accomplish more on the go. Customers can maximize their phone’s capabilities to stay on top of the latest information and stay connected."

Mobile Broadband allows customers to download applications quicker and enable picture and video messages to be delivered faster. Browsing the Web on a smartphone will be very similar to the experience on a computer, with faster speeds and larger e-mail attachment capability.

Along with the speed of Mobile Broadband, U.S. Cellular customers will have access to new data content and applications such as MobiTV with channels such as ABC News, ESPN and TLC, 3D games, mobile e-mail and an advanced mobile web browser. In addition to the Internet access on the phone, customers will also be able to purchase wireless modems in retail stores to have high speed internet on the go with their laptops.

Qualcomm and Foxlink Sign 3G CDMA Module/Modem Card License Agreement

Qualcomm and Foxlink Sign 3G CDMA Module/Modem Card License Agreement SAN DIEGO — 10-27-2008 — Qualcomm Incorporated, a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, and Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co., Ltd., (Foxlink), a leading developer and manufacturer of communications devices, computers and consumer electronics, today announced that they have entered into a module/modem card patent license agreement. Under the terms of the royalty bearing agreement, Qualcomm has granted Foxlink a worldwide patent license to develop, manufacture and sell modules and modem cards implementing the CDMA2000®, WCDMA and/or TD-SCDMA standards. The royalties payable by Foxlink are at Qualcomm's standard worldwide rates.

IT&E's EVDO Rev. A high speed network is the same used by US telecom giants Verizon Wireless and Sprint who have well over half of the US wireless market.

Last month in the CNMI, PTI was the first in Micronesia to launch an EV-DO high-speed mobile broadband network. IT&E and PTI now offer the first and fastest next generation mobile broadband network serving Guam, Saipan, Tinian and Rota. The network will feature speeds up to 10 times faster than the current 1XRTT wireless data network. EV-DO Rev. A offers customers the ability to access email, photos, spreadsheets and other large files via their phone or laptop at unprecedented speeds. Customers will also enjoy a new world of entertainment as their phones can easily access social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Friendster. The ability to watch streaming video from the Internet as well as the ability to upload videos to popular sharing sites like YouTube from a wireless phone makes this next generation mobile broadband a must. IT&E will offer customers the opportunity to "Go Unlimited" with one of the new IT&E unlimited data packages. Both companies offer regional home coverage that will allow customers to use high speed data in Guam or the CNMI at no additional costs.
