Private Network Static IP From Verizon Wireless Gives Enterprise And Government Customers More Options For Securely Managing Mobile Devices BASKING RIDGE, NJ — October 23, 2008 — Verizon Wireless, builder and operator of the nation’s most reliable wireless voice and data network, today announced the addition of Static IP (Internet Protocol) addressing to the Verizon Wireless Private Network. Verizon Wireless Private Network is an enterprise solution that lets customers communicate more securely and consistently with their wireless devices by using a combination of Private IP addressing and dedicated connectivity. The new Private Network Static IP feature gives enterprise and government customers enhanced administrative control over employees’ access by allowing them to assign a unique IP address to identify each mobile device accessing the network.

Enterprise and government customers can easily administer their wireless workforce IP policies and reinforce corporate security by adding a fixed block of wireless IP addresses to their corporate firewall. Perfect for enterprises with a mobile workforce needing to access and send sensitive information via a wireless router, embedded laptop or mobile Internet device such as a smartphone, Verizon Wireless Private Network enhances the protection and reliability of wireless data transmission by avoiding the security risks associated with the public Internet. Companies operating business-critical wireless applications, such as telemetry-based applications or ATM transactions, benefit from enhanced security through encrypted traffic. Enterprise customers must use their existing authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) server or purchase any AAA server that supports the standards-based messaging that is required by Verizon Wireless AAA Certification.

The Verizon Wireless Private Network with Static IP for mobile devices can be set up for a one-time fee of $500.00 and is compatible with Verizon Wireless PC cards, wireless routers, embedded laptops or mobile Internet devices, including smartphones. YouVote Video Moves From Online To Mobile, Exclusively On Verizon Wireless

YouVote Video Moves From Online To Mobile, Exclusively On Verizon Wireless BASKING RIDGE, NJ, and NEW YORK — October 20, 2008 — Verizon Wireless is encouraging its customers to exercise their right to vote in this year’s historic election and today announced its customers now have exclusive mobile access to The Creative Coalition’s engaging YouVote video. Conceived and directed by filmmaker Sue Kramer, YouVote leverages the spotlight of the entertainment industry to inspire and encourage Americans to vote in the upcoming presidential election and is now available to millions of Verizon Wireless customers with V CAST-enabled phones.

YouVote marks the first time that actors, filmmakers, producers and directors are joining together in a fully non-partisan and inter-generational effort to encourage voter participation. The three-minute video includes more than 40 celebrities, including Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway, Tim Daly, Samuel L. Jackson, Susan Sarandon, Marcia Cross, Jane Krakowski and The Muppets (complete list at end of release). YouVote is set to the sound of a modern American anthem, “Today,” an original song written for the video by Dana Parish and Andrew Hollander and performed by Dana Parish. Verizon Wireless customers also have access to a one-minute version of the YouVote video on V CAST.

YouVote contributors share statements, quotes and personal anecdotes on the importance and privilege of voting, and a number of participants recite the following Margaret Mead quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”

“The Creative Coalition is proud to spearhead the YouVote campaign. Our organization stands for citizenship involvement, and this video promotes the simple message that every citizen must exercise their right and responsibility to vote,” said Robin Bronk, executive director of The Creative Coalition.

“The concept of YouVote was to create a non-partisan appeal to get people to vote and help unify the country instead of dividing it – we are not preaching who to vote for, we just want people to use their right and participate in the democratic process. For too long the entertainment community has been accused of being either indifferent to important issues or lending their voices only to certain causes; this video demonstrates that Hollywood understands the importance of participation,” said Sue Kramer, director of the YouVote video.

Celebrity participants include: Pamela Adlon, Penn Badgley, Amy Brenneman, Connie Britton, Saffron Burrows, Ellen Burstyn, Tom Cavanagh, Rachael Leigh Cook, Bradley Cooper, Chace Crawford, Marcia Cross, Tim Daly, John Paul DeJoria, Dana Delany, Giancarlo Esposito, Tony Goldwyn, Bryan Greenberg, Carla Gugino, Hill Harper, Anne Hathaway, Samuel L. Jackson, Wayne Knight, Jane Krakowski, Joey Kurn, Ricki Lake, John Leguizamo, Barry Levinson, Blake Lively, Josh Lucas, Wendie Malick, Matthew Modine, The Muppets, Kathy Najimy, Paulina Porizkova, Gloria Reuben, Jason Ritter, Stephen Root, Susan Sarandon, Richard Schiff, Tamara Tunie, Nia Vardalos, Kate Walsh, Ed Westwick and more.

Verizon Wireless customers can watch YouVote by visiting the Election ’08 category on V CAST and then selecting YouVote and selecting either the one- or three-minute YouVote video. Access to YouVote on Verizon Wireless phones is included with any V CAST subscription, just $3.00 for 24-hour use or for $15.00 monthly access with the V CAST VPak, which also includes access to Verizon Wireless’ ESPN MVP, Get It Now® and Mobile Web services. Leap Introduces Its Cricket(TM) Unlimited Wireless Service in Savannah Area

Leap Introduces Its Cricket(TM) Unlimited Wireless Service in Savannah Area SAVANNAH, Ga., Oct 13, 2008 -- Leap Wireless International, Inc., the parent company of Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, is now offering its Cricket services in Savannah, Ga., Hilton Head, S. C. and surrounding communities. The Savannah network spans 3,284 square miles and is fully operational. The Savannah market includes approximately 600,000 new covered POPs, bringing Cricket's national covered POPs to approximately 62.3 million.

The introduction of Cricket service in the Savannah area follows the Company's purchase earlier this year of the wireless telecommunications business of Hargray Communications Group, Incorporated. Hargray's wireless subscribers are transitioning to Cricket's unlimited service plans and are benefiting from Cricket's improvements to expand and enhance the network. Cricket has released customers from any contracts that may have been in place, and is in the process of refunding any deposits they may have paid. Additionally, Cricket will provide the wireless service component of Hargray Communications Group's "quadruple-play" bundle that also includes telephone, high-speed Internet, and all-digital television services in Hilton Head and surrounding areas.

"By purchasing Hargray's wireless business and infrastructure, we were able to increase our speed to market while still maintaining our cost leadership advantage," said Doug Hutcheson, president and chief executive officer of Leap. "This launch is another step toward our goal of doubling the size of our Cricket business by the end of 2010, and it continues to expand our presence along the eastern seaboard, which will ultimately reach from Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., through the Carolinas and Georgia."

Cricket service is available in the Savannah area at two Cricket retail stores and approximately 35 authorized dealers (including four Hargray retail stores in the Hilton Head area), as well as online at www.mycricket.com and via the telephone at 800-922-9169.Customers are able to choose from a wide variety of rate plans, ranging from $25 to $60 a month and including an assortment of features from unlimited anytime minutes, unlimited U.S. long distance, unlimited text and picture messaging, unlimited text to Mexico, unlimited Mobile Web, unlimited directory assistance and nationwide roaming minutes.

BlackBerry Takes The World By Storm With Verizon Wireless And Vodafone

BlackBerry Takes The World By Storm With Verizon Wireless And Vodafone BASKING RIDGE, NJ, NEWBURY, England, and WATERLOO, Ontario — October 8, 2008 — Verizon Wireless, Vodafone Group and Research In Motion (RIM) today announced that the BlackBerry® Storm™ will be available later this fall, exclusively to Verizon Wireless customers in the U.S. and Vodafone customers in Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand.

Designed to satisfy the needs of both consumers and business customers, the BlackBerry Storm smartphone combines the powerful communications features, global connectivity and personal productivity advantages of the BlackBerry® platform with a revolutionary touch-screen technology that dramatically enhances the touch interface and enables easy and precise typing. The world's first “clickable” touch-screen responds much like a physical keyboard and also supports single-touch, multi-touch and gestures for intuitive and efficient application navigation.

In the U.S., Verizon Wireless customers will benefit from the nation’s most reliable wireless voice network and the pervasiveness of Verizon Wireless’ reliable high-speed 3G Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network for rich Internet browsing and multimedia applications. In Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand, Vodafone will support customers with its high-speed 3G mobile broadband networks and the power and reach of the world’s leading international mobile communications group.

“We are proud to introduce the first touch-screen based BlackBerry smartphone together with Verizon Wireless and Vodafone,” said Mike Lazaridis, president and co-chief executive officer at RIM. “The BlackBerry Storm is a revolutionary touch-screen smartphone that meets both the communications and multimedia needs of customers and solves the longstanding problem associated with typing on traditional touch-screens. Consumers and business customers alike will appreciate this unique combination of a large and vibrant screen with a truly tactile touch interface.”

“The BlackBerry Storm offers our customers more ways to stay connected to both their personal and professional lives – whether in their communities or around the globe,” said Mike Lanman, vice president and chief marketing officer of Verizon Wireless. “The BlackBerry Storm combines the reliability of our 3G network with the dependability and network efficiency of the BlackBerry platform to deliver our customers the ultimate wireless experience – all in one of the coolest smartphones available on the market today.”

“We are delighted to bring the power of the purpose built BlackBerry Storm, directly into the hands of consumer and business customers,” said Frank H. Rovekamp, global chief marketing officer, Vodafone Group. “With its unique clickable touch-screen, giving access to all the desirable multimedia features and services such as browsing, music and video, turn-by-turn satellite navigation, messaging and social networking, and BlackBerry’s mobile heritage and strong business reputation, the BlackBerry Storm is being brought by Vodafone into the consumer world. With Vodafone’s ultra high-speed, reliable mobile network and this exclusive and exciting new smartphone, there has never been a better time to be with Vodafone.”

Touch and Feel

The BlackBerry Storm smartphone comes with an innovative touch-screen that actually depresses ever so slightly when the screen is pressed. The user distinctly feels the screen being pressed and released with a gentle “click,” similar to the feeling of a key on a physical keyboard or a button on a mouse. The “clickable” touch-screen gives the user positive confirmation that they have made a selection and the result is a dramatically enhanced touch interface and a highly-intuitive typing experience.

In addition to the familiar navigation keys (“phone,” “menu” and “escape”) that are common to other BlackBerry smartphones, the new BlackBerry Storm adds support for multi-touches, taps, slides and other touch-screen gestures, so customers can easily highlight, scroll, pan and zoom for smooth navigation.

The BlackBerry Storm smartphone also features a built-in accelerometer, allowing its touch-screen to automatically switch between landscape mode and portrait mode as the user rotates the handset – RIM’s SureType® keyboard layout is available in portrait mode and a full QWERTY* keyboard layout is available in landscape mode. Other relevant features, such as cut and paste, are only a touch away for the ultimate smartphone experience.

World Class Smartphone

The BlackBerry Storm is a top-of-the-line 3G mobile phone with premium features and global connectivity. In the U.S., the BlackBerry Storm 9530 gives Verizon Wireless customers 3G EV-DO Rev. A/CDMA technology – and (2100Mhz) UMTS/HSPA and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM for global use. The BlackBerry Storm 9500 from Vodafone supports (2100Mhz) UMTS/HSPA and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks.

Browsing is Fast and Easy

Customers will enjoy a full HTML high-performance browser that works in either portrait or landscape orientation. Navigating Web sites is fast and easy with the touch-screen interface that lets users double tap to zoom in and slide their fingers to scroll and pan.

Icons along the bottom of the display allow for quickly accessing Web sites, switching between “Page View” and “Column View” as well as the ability to toggle between “Pan” mode and “Cursor” mode. The enhanced browser supports file downloading, streaming audio and video (RTSP), and with its built-in RSS support, new content from supported Web sites can be automatically pushed to the user.

Staying Connected

The BlackBerry Storm smartphone brings the full power of the industry’s leading mobile e-mail and messaging solution without compromise. It supports personal and corporate e-mail and text (SMS), picture (MMS) and instant (IM) messaging on the most prevalent consumer and enterprise platforms, as well as easy access to popular social networking sites.

Packed with Additional Features

The BlackBerry Storm smartphone, available from Verizon Wireless and Vodafone, also includes the following features and functions:

• BlackBerry® Internet Service, BlackBerry® Unite!, BlackBerry® Professional Software and BlackBerry® Enterprise Server support

• Preloaded DataViz® Documents to Go® allows users to edit Microsoft® Word, Excel and PowerPoint files directly on the handset

IT&E Has A New Look; Announces Next Generation Network

IT&E Has A New Look; Announces Next Generation Network Oct 02, 2008 -- IT&E unveiled its new logo and tagline on Wednesday, October 1st, at the Hyatt Regency Guam in Tumon. Over 100 government, business and community leaders joined IT&E and PTI associates in celebrating ITE's new logo and tagline while getting a look at the new $10 million next generation EVDO Rev. A network that is currently being deployed on Guam.

The main color of the IT&E logo remains blue, symbolizing the company's continued commitment to the local Guam community. The blue button fringed inside a brushed-silver finish frame, in which the name IT&E nestles is about the sleek, clean and progressive image of technology. The frame symbolizes a window to the future and the fact that IT&E will constantly bring the latest technology to its customers. It is classic and simple, rendered in a manner that also reflects the company's corporate tradition.

Also, unveiled was IT&E's new tagline, "Life in Motion". "It was chosen because of the constant change in technology that allows people to do more that ever away from home," said Ricky Delgado, president and CEO of IT&E. "The tagline 'Life in Motion' means that there is no need to be at home or in the office to be fully connected to the world," he added. The new network is backed by a progressive web of cutting-edge technology that aims to deliver a new standard of telecommunication service that will define the industry and inspire the community it serves. IT&E's EVDO Rev. A high speed network is the same used by US telecom giants Verizon Wireless and Sprint who have well over half of the US wireless market.

Last month in the CNMI, PTI was the first in Micronesia to launch an EV-DO high-speed mobile broadband network. IT&E and PTI now offer the first and fastest next generation mobile broadband network serving Guam, Saipan, Tinian and Rota. The network will feature speeds up to 10 times faster than the current 1XRTT wireless data network. EV-DO Rev. A offers customers the ability to access email, photos, spreadsheets and other large files via their phone or laptop at unprecedented speeds. Customers will also enjoy a new world of entertainment as their phones can easily access social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Friendster. The ability to watch streaming video from the Internet as well as the ability to upload videos to popular sharing sites like YouTube from a wireless phone makes this next generation mobile broadband a must. IT&E will offer customers the opportunity to "Go Unlimited" with one of the new IT&E unlimited data packages. Both companies offer regional home coverage that will allow customers to use high speed data in Guam or the CNMI at no additional costs.

"We are extremely excited about the potential of our growing network and in keeping with the IT&E tradition, want to be known as a local company focused on bringing the world's finest mobile broadband technology not just to places that make economic sense but to all the customers we serve. The fact that we cover both Guam and the CNMI is testament to our long-term commitment to the people of Guam and the region", said Delgado. The PTI Group is the largest telecommunications company in the Marianas with over 75,000 total subscribers on four islands. It was purchased from Verizon by Prospector Holdings Inc. of the Philippine-based Delgado family in September of 2005. In 2006, Sumitomo Corporation invested $25 million as a long term strategic partner. Together both companies continue to work closely to expand the group of companies with a long term regional orientation in mind.
