Canada’s Most Powerful Wireless Network Is Now Even Faster

Canada’s Most Powerful Wireless Network Is Now Even Faster Vancouver, B.C. - May 31, 2007 - TELUS today announced the availability of faster speeds on its wireless high speed EVDO network throughout Southern Ontario, Montreal and Winnipeg, with enhanced speeds coming to the company’s full existing EVDO coverage areas later this year. Building upon the EVDO network launched in late 2005, TELUS has upgraded to EVDO Rev A service in these areas, making it even faster for clients to access data at broadband-like speeds while on-the-go. The speed improvement is part of TELUS’ more than $100 million investment in delivering EVDO, Canada’s fastest coast-to-coast 3G wireless network. TELUS offers one of the only 10 commercially available EVDO Rev A networks in the world.

“In today’s fast-paced informational society, Canadians are increasingly looking for ways to stay connected and entertained while outside the home or office. With TELUS’ announcement today of enhanced speeds to wireless high speed service in Southern Ontario, Montreal and Winnipeg, we are making it even faster to do just that,” said Robert Blumenthal, TELUS senior vice-president of Products and Services. “TELUS continues to invest significantly in the future of telecommunications to bring Canadians the most innovative products and services to meet their needs for fast, reliable communications solutions.”

The EVDO Rev A upgrade enables clients to experience upload speeds that are seven times faster than previous EVDO service with typical upload speeds of 300 to 400 kilobits per second with maximum possible upload speeds of 1.8 megabits per second. The service also offers enhanced typical download speeds of approximately 450 to 800 kilobits per second to a maximum possible speed of 3.1 megabits per second. In the coming months, TELUS plans to continue rolling out upgraded Rev A service to EVDO coverage area, which now reaches more than two-thirds of Canadians. When traveling in the United States, clients can roam onto EVDO networks in 242 cities.

The speed increases announced today make it even faster for clients to share large data files such as pictures and provides a better experience for streaming services.

Sprint First To Deliver Pandora For Personalized Streaming Radio On Mobile Phones

Sprint First To Deliver Pandora For Personalized Streaming Radio On Mobile Phones OVERLAND PARK, Kan. and OAKLAND, Calif. — 05/23/2007 — Sprint customers now have the power in their hands to exclusively discover new music and hear favorite songs through their own personalized "DJ" on their phone. Sprint continues to lead mobile music by delivering Pandora for the first time on mobile. The online music service phenomenon Pandora (www.Pandora.com), which has exploded in popularity to more than 6.5 million users almost entirely by word of mouth, is now available on select Sprint Power Vision phones.

Listening to Pandora is simple: users enter a song or artist that they like, and within seconds, Pandora delivers a personalized radio station with a continuous stream of songs that fit the same sound and style. The songs are selected based on the Music Genome Project, Pandora's proprietary system that utilizes highly trained musicians to analyze songs one at a time. These musicians identify hundreds of different musical qualities of each recording, including melody, harmony, rhythm, instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics and vocals.

Pandora on Sprint phones is integrated seamlessly with the online version of Pandora. Up to 100 stations can be saved in a user's account, and they can be enjoyed online at www.pandora.com and on Sprint phones anywhere within Sprint's extensive nationwide Power Vision network. Sprint customers can also create new stations directly on their phones through an easy-to-use interface.

Information about the current song (including title, artist and album) is displayed on the phone's color screen, and customers can also scroll backwards to see this information for recently played songs. Additionally, customers can rate songs with the touch of a button with either "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" so Pandora can immediately adjust the station's programming, and they can pause a song as well as skip a song that they don't want to hear.

Sprint customers can bookmark a song, and the song name and artist will be saved. The bookmark can serve as a reminder to purchase the song later on the Sprint Music Store, which offers more than 1.6 million songs that can be downloaded wirelessly on the phone in as little as 30 seconds for only 99 cents each with a Power Vision data plan.

"Pandora is like that one friend who everyone wants to have – someone who really knows and loves music and who can recommend a long list of bands and songs after you mention what you've been listening to lately," said Jeff Luther, director of entertainment wireless data for Sprint. "Pandora is a great way to break out of the same songs on your playlist and hear some new music that you may have never found otherwise. It's the latest example of the many innovative ways that Sprint delivers music on the one device people carry with them throughout the day."

"This is a watershed moment for radio. Pandora's unique approach to radio combined with Sprint's powerful wireless broadband network heralds a new era of music listening. Now listeners can have personalized radio throughout the day - in the car, at home, at the gym – custom-created stations wherever they are on the Power Vision network," said Tim Westergren, founder of Pandora. "Starting today, radio means something totally different. Together, Sprint and Pandora are radically changing what it means to tune-in."

Pandora is now available on five Sprint Power Vision phones: the FUSIC by LG, A900 and A920 by Samsung, and 7500 and 8400 by Sanyo. By the end of June, Pandora will be available on all Sprint Power Vision phones. Pandora on Sprint, which includes both ad-free online and mobile access, is available for a no-charge trial for the first 30 days and then costs an additional $2.99 per month with a Power Vision data plan (standard Power Vision charges apply). To download, select the "Web" icon on the phone's main menu and then type "Pandora" in the search option. For more information, visit Pandora's newly redesigned website, www.pandora.com. Downloadable high-res images of Pandora on Sprint phones are at http://www2.sprint.com/mr/news_dtl.do?id=16780.

Music Hunters Wanted: Verizon Wireless Today Announced Availability Of V CAST Song ID

Music Hunters Wanted: Verizon Wireless Today Announced Availability Of V CAST Song ID BASKING RIDGE, NJ — May 21, 2007 — Are you a music hunter? Have you ever been somewhere, heard a song and wondered who the artist is or the song’s name? With Verizon Wireless’ exclusive new V CAST Song ID, you can now hear a song, hold the phone toward the music, watch it capture a sample of what you’re listening to and within seconds V CAST Song ID will identify the music, and allow you to purchase a matching full-track song, Ringtone or Ringback tone – all right over-the-air from your phone.

Customers only need a V CAST Music-enabled phone to start identifying recorded music playing on the radio, in a club, on the street or from virtually any music source, then purchase and download the corresponding true-tone Ringtone, Ringback tone and full-track song from V CAST Music.

Mike Lanman, Verizon Wireless chief marketing officer, said, “Launching V CAST Song ID is yet another reason why Americans who want the best mobile music experience are switching to Verizon Wireless. At a time when some of our competitors won’t even allow you to download your music over-the-air, Verizon Wireless is pushing forward by offering Song ID for free. We’ll help you find the music you love, then make it easy for you to buy.”

Unlike other wireless service providers, Verizon Wireless gives customers a choice on how to buy their mobile music: from the PC or over-the-air, directly to their phone. Lanman noted that nearly 95 percent of all full songs bought by V CAST Music customers have been over-the-air. “Mobile services should provide music lovers with choices on how to buy new music. When customers have a choice of buying new songs from the PC and side-loading it to their phone, or to buy music spontaneously over-the-air, they choose immediacy almost every time. Music lovers want their new songs now and V CAST Song ID helps make it happen when they don’t know the name or artist of the song.”

V CAST Song ID can identify more than four million songs. And whatever your music tastes include, V CAST Song ID will identify songs from every genre, from the latest chart toppers to ‘80s rock classics. When you place the phone near a music source like a stereo speaker or car radio, and record a 10-second clip, V CAST Song ID names the artist, song and album title. After successful recognition, the application will determine if the song is available as a full-track song, Ringtone or Ringback tone and directly launch the Verizon Wireless’ V CAST Music store where you have the option to purchase and download the track.

Music hunters can use V CAST Song ID on select V CAST Music-enabled phones, including Chocolate by LG, The enV by LG, the LG VX8700 and VX9400 and Samsung SCH-u620. V CAST Song ID is available as a free download in the Music and Tones section of the Get It Now® virtual store – simply go to Get New Ringtones, Get New Application and select V CAST Song ID. Once downloaded, you can use the application for free to identify songs while on-the-go. You can purchase the V CAST Music full-track download for $1.99 per song and get two copies of the song – one for your phone and the other for your PC. Verizon Wireless customers who downloaded the previous version of Song ID to their phones will need to remove that version from their handsets prior to downloading the free upgraded version of V CAST Song ID.

V CAST Song ID is being heavily supported with broadcast, print and online advertising, as well as through Verizon Wireless Street Team promotions.

Lost No More! Hot Expanded Features On VZ Navigator, Only From Verizon Wireless

Lost No More! Hot Expanded Features On VZ Navigator, Only From Verizon Wireless BASKING RIDGE, NJ — May 9, 2007 — Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the most reliable voice and data network in the country, introduced helpful new features on the company’s award-winning VZ NavigatorSM service. With time-saving tools like Place Messaging, a new VZ Navigator Web site (www.vznavigator.com), and the ability to synchronize searches from the Web site to VZ Navigator-capable phones, Verizon Wireless customers now have even more help to get where they are going easily and quickly – and to let others know how to get there too.

Place Messaging

With Place Messaging, a customer can send directions to others through VZ Navigator’s new Messages option. For example, you’re making dinner plans and want to send the restaurant’s location to friends. If your friends have VZ Navigator, the message you sent opens up VZ Navigator on your friend’s phone, so he can navigate to the destination, map it and save it to his Favorites folder. The message will automatically be sent as a standard TXT Message to recipients with Verizon Wireless phones that do not subscribe to VZ Navigator.

VZ Navigator Web Site

With the new companion Web site for VZ Navigator (www.vznavigator.com), customers can now search for a location on their desktop or laptop, save locations in their Favorites folder and recall locations from their Recent Searches folder, all retrievable later right on their own phones. Plus, customers are able to send Place Messages from their computer to their phone, to other Verizon Wireless customers or to any e-mail address.

Synchronization

With the new synchronization feature on VZ Navigator, customers can sync their Recent Searches and Favorites folders on the VZ Navigator Web site with those folders on their VZ Navigator-capable phones. The sync feature is a snap, since the Verizon Wireless network automatically detects if folders need to be synced and asks customers if they want to perform the action now or at a later time.

Availability

VZ Navigator with the new features is available today on the Motorola V325, MOTORAZR V3c and V3m, MOTOKRZR K1m, MOTOSLVR L7c and MOTORAZR maxx Ve; LG VX8300, VX8600, VX8700, VX9400, Chocolate, The V and The enV by LG; and the Samsung SCH-u540, SCH-u620, SCH-u740 and SCH-a990. Verizon Wireless customers already using VZ Navigator on these phones can get a free upgrade that gives them access to the new features: on the phone, simply visit the getGOING or Tools on the Go shopping aisle of Get It Now, select Get New Applications, select VZ Navigator and press OK. Finally, select Free Upgrade and press OK.

Pricing

VZ Navigator is available for $9.99 for unlimited monthly access or $2.99 for one-day use on select Get It Now-enabled phones in the getGOING or Tools on the Go shopping aisle. Standard TXT Messaging rates apply for Place Messages and recipients of Place Messages must be existing Verizon Wireless customers, but they do not need to have VZ Navigator to access the message. Verizon Wireless Customers In Eugene, Albany, Corvallis, La Grande, Pendleton, And Umatilla, Oregon, Get Faster New Wireless Broadband Network

Verizon Wireless Customers In Eugene, Albany, Corvallis, La Grande, Pendleton, And Umatilla, Oregon, Get Faster New Wireless Broadband Network PORTLAND, OR — May 8, 2007 — Verizon Wireless customers in Eugene, Albany, Corvallis, La Grande, Pendleton, and Umatilla, Oregon, can now access e-mail, everyday corporate data, the Internet and more all at faster speeds – and upload files eight to nine times faster than before.

Verizon Wireless is rolling out the next-generation of its high-speed broadband network. Based on CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) technology, the enhanced wireless broadband network provides Verizon Wireless customers with data uplink speeds significantly faster than the company’s award-winning national EV-DO network which launched in June 2005. The company launched the enhanced service earlier this year in Portland and Salem and customers in Bend and Redmond are now also covered.

Verizon Wireless’ national wireless broadband network, the first in the nation, is already available to more than 200 million people in 242 major metropolitan areas and 180 major airports from coast to coast.

The company’s existing EV-DO network enables customers to access BroadbandAccess on their laptops, e-mail on their PDAs, and V CAST Video and Music on their wireless phones.

“Our existing wireless broadband network has enabled customers to work remotely and stay entertained in unprecedented ways; now we’re taking wireless to the next level by introducing technology that helps them work faster,” said Kelley Kurtzman, regional president of Verizon Wireless.

“The launch of this next generation of our high-speed broadband network is part of our ongoing, significant investment in Oregon.”

Verizon Wireless invested more than $115 million to enhance its Oregon voice and data last year and more than $300 million over the last five years.

The company’s flagship business data service, BroadbandAccess, will run faster and more efficiently with the new network enhancements.

For example, BroadbandAccess customers in enhanced wireless broadband coverage areas can expect average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. This translates to being able to download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment – the equivalent of a small PowerPoint® presentation or a large PDF file – in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.

Devices that take advantage of Verizon Wireless’ enhanced Rev. A wireless broadband network include the new V740 ExpressCard, the compact USB720 wireless modem, the AirCard 595 and PC5750 PC Card. All of these devices are fully compatible with both the company’s wireless broadband network and its NationalAccess network (based on CDMA 1xRTT technology).

Based on CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. This faster network coverage area extends from the city of Minneapolis north to Coon Rapids and Blaine, west to Mound, east to Woodbury, south to Northfield and southwest to Shakopee, providing Verizon Wireless customers with faster access for sending and uploading data.

The company’s existing EV-DO network enables customers to access BroadbandAccess on their laptops, e-mail on their PDAs, and V CAST Video and Music on their wireless phones. The company’s national wireless broadband network, the first in the nation, is already available to more than 200 million Americans in 242 major metropolitan areas and 180 major airports from coast to coast.

“Our existing wireless broadband network has enabled customers to work remotely and stay entertained in unprecedented ways,” said Nancy B. Our customers who enjoy the latest technology will applaud Rev. A’s faster uplink speeds for their cutting-edge devices.”

The company’s flagship business data service, BroadbandAccess, runs faster and more efficiently with the new network enhancements. Customers in enhanced coverage areas can take advantage of upload speeds that are eight to nine times faster than with the company’s existing wireless broadband network, while interacting with Web-based applications with improved latency for a better customer experience. For example, BroadbandAccess customers in enhanced wireless broadband coverage areas can expect average download speeds from 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps, which means customers can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment – the equivalent of a small PowerPoint® presentation or a large PDF file – in about eight seconds and upload the same-size file in less than 13 seconds. The enhanced network coverage areas allow Verizon Wireless customers to download files approximately ten times faster than customers of other wireless service providers that use different broadly deployed network technologies.

Devices that take advantage of the faster speeds provided by the EV-DO Rev. A network enhancements are the USB720 wireless modem, the AirCard 595 and PC5750 PC Card, which are fully compatible with the company’s enhanced and existing wireless broadband networks and the company’s NationalAccess network (based on CDMA 1xRTT technology). Minneapolis and St. Paul-area customers purchasing these devices will be able to get significantly faster upload speeds and improved download speeds when in an enhanced network coverage area. The company’s flagship business data service, BroadbandAccess, will run faster and more efficiently with the new network enhancements.

Customers in enhanced coverage areas can take advantage of upload speeds that are eight to nine times faster than with the company’s existing wireless broadband network, plus interact with Web-based applications with improved latency for a better customer experience.

The network provides Verizon Wireless customers with faster access for sending and uploading data.
