International Soccer Fans Can Go For The Goal With Trivia Sweepstakes And TXT Alerts From Verizon Wireless

International Soccer Fans Can Go For The Goal With Trivia Sweepstakes And TXT Alerts From Verizon Wireless BEDMINSTER, NJ — May 18, 2006 — Verizon Wireless, the nation’s premier provider of wireless products and services, announced today two new ways for international soccer fans to join in the fun as the action heats up during the world’s biggest soccer tournament. Through the company’s relationship with Univision, Verizon Wireless is inviting customers to play a fantasy soccer game “¡Elige a tus Goleadores!” (Select Your Strikers/Goal Scorers), test their knowledge with the World Cup Trivia Sweepstakes and keep up-to-date on tournaments news and events with TXT Alerts. These three new offerings are in addition to Verizon Wireless’ existing international soccer content that includes exclusive mobile video clips, recaps and highlights of Spanish-language coverage of “Copa Mundial de la FIFA Alemania 2006” – the most important competition in international soccer.

“¡Elige a tus Goleadores!” Verizon Wireless’ “¡Elige a tus Goleadores!” makes it fun for international soccer fans to live vicariously through their favorite players. The mobile soccer game lets customers select up to five teams with six strikers online to form their fantasy teams; once the players are selected and the competition begins, customers receive TXT Alerts on how their players are performing and their standing in the tournament, including:

• Goals – Get notified every time one of the six selected players scores a goal

• My Points and Ranking On Demand – Send the word “GOL” to receive the total points scored each day and their overall ranking against all participants

• Player Updates – Receive notification every time a player has been added or removed from the list

To play “¡Elige a tus Goleadores!” players simply send a TXT Message to “3399” from a TXT Messaging-capable Verizon Wireless phone to schedule TXT Alerts. The grand prize includes a trip to Miami to appear on “Republica Deportiva,” a jersey from the winner’s favorite team and a V CAST-enabled Samsung SCH-A950 phone with $100 Verizon Wireless gift card. Other prizes include three first-place prizes of a V CAST-enabled Samsung SCH-A950 phone with $100 Verizon Wireless gift card and a jersey from the winner’s favorite team, plus 32 second-place prizes of a V CAST-enabled Samsung SCH-A950 phone with $100 Verizon Wireless gift card.

Customers will receive two trivia questions sent daily to their phones via TXT Message – they can elect to receive the trivia questions in either English or Spanish. To play, simply send the word “COPA” to short code “2299” from a TXT Messaging-capable Verizon Wireless phone. Correct answers earn players two entries into the sweepstakes; an incorrect answer earns one entry. KDDI And Google Partner To Incorporate Google Search Into au EZ Web

KDDI And Google Partner To Incorporate Google Search Into au EZ Web May 18, 2006--KDDI Corporation is pleased to announce its agreement with Google Inc. to incorporate Google's search engine into KDDI's EZ Web Internet service for au mobile phones, beginning in July of this year. The search service, which will synthesize content aimed at both mobile phones and PCs, is the first of its kind in Japan. The adoption of Google's search engine will make EZ Web searches easier while enabling direct access to information sought by users.

The tie-up will lead not only to the improvement of existing search engines, which target content aimed exclusively at mobile phones, but provide an extensive search service that also targets content aimed at PCs. In addition, KDDI's content information management will enable users more direct access to the information they seek. Consider, for example, a search for information about an artist: In the past, a search would turn up links to relevant content in officially designated categories, forcing the user to perform further searches in each category. However, the new service will provide direct access to music, applications, books and magazines, shopping and other information related to the artist.

Additionally, through the use of Google's proprietary search technology, text advertisements based on search terms are displayed alongside search results, enabling the provision of targeted information, including advertisements, that addresses the needs of au users.

Going forward, KDDI and Google will strive for rapid improvement in search functionality, enabling simple and direct access to a wide range of information via mobile phones and in doing so, enhancing their usefulness. Through the development of such innovative services, the partners are seeking to invigorate Japan's mobile Internet market.

FuelFinder Directs Verizon Wireless Customers To The Road To Savings

FuelFinder Directs Verizon Wireless Customers To The Road To Savings BEDMINSTER, NJ and LA PALMA, CA — May 17, 2006 — Even with rising gas prices, Verizon Wireless customers are driving gas savings straight to the bank with the help of MobileGates’ FuelFinder. Available exclusively to Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0SM customers, FuelFinder is a mapping service that has been seeking out the most inexpensive fuel options for Verizon Wireless customers since October 2005. As it has become more important for customers to find the best gas prices, the number of FuelFinder subscribers has doubled in the past month and a half.

Instead of wasting precious fuel by driving to every gas station in town for the best price, let your Verizon Wireless mobile phone do the work for you – before you even put the key in the ignition. FuelFinder lets you search for the sweetest deal by ZIP code, city or recent search and updates its findings on over 110,000 stations from coast to coast every two hours.

There’s no reason to pull over and ask for directions when you go shopping with FuelFinder because it not only reports on the national high, low and average fuel prices, but Verizon Wireless customers can also view an interactive color map on their phones that plots out FuelFinder’s results and provides turn-by-turn directions to any selected gas station. Now that you can put the brakes on the stress of finding a deal on fuel, Verizon Wireless and FuelFinder are sure to become your favorite shopping companions.

“Verizon Wireless’ award-winning wireless network is the ideal partner to demonstrate the strength of MobileGates’ industry-leading mobile mapping applications,” said Tony Meador, chief executive officer of MobileGates. “By providing FuelFinder through Verizon Wireless, we can be assured that customers can find the best deal on fuel wherever and whenever they want.”

FuelFinder is available on Mobile Web 2.0-capable phones for $1.99 monthly access. Mobile Web 2.0 is available for $5.00 monthly access, plus airtime and can be self-provisioned, eliminating the need for Verizon Wireless customers to call customer service or visit a Verizon Wireless Communication Store to sign up for the service. Customers simply register for Mobile Web 2.0 on their Mobile Web-capable handset and gain access to information and content right from their wireless handsets.

Get Your Game On In The Game Lobby From Sprint LOS ANGELES, Calif., at E3 — 05/10/2006 — Sprint, the industry leader in innovative wireless entertainment services, and AirG, the global leader in powering social networking on mobile phones, have opened the Game Lobby Lounge (GLL) as an enhancement to the Game Lobby from Sprint, which is powered by Motricity. The GLL, powered by AirG, is the world's first social network that exclusively targets mobile gamers and provides a revolutionary new way for users to communicate in real time and share game tips and reviews.

"Since launching the Game Lobby from Sprint in March 2004, we've seen how gamers really enjoy interacting and sharing their opinions on games," said Jason Ford, general manager of games and entertainment for Sprint. "We've enhanced the game community experience by enabling Game Lobby members to keep their same profile and enter the GLL to chat and share their thoughts in real time in a dedicated social community, right on their wireless phone."

The GLL is an application that can be downloaded to select Sprint phones, enabling gamers to share tips, blog and review games on their wireless phones. Customers can also stay informed of new games, products and contests from Sprint. For a limited time, Sprint Vision(SM) and Sprint Power Vision(SM) customers can download the GLL for free on their phones at Downloads/Games/What's New.

Synapse Group Goes Head-To-Head With Kodak And Sony For Major Telecommunications Award In The USA

Synapse Group Goes Head-To-Head With Kodak And Sony For Major Telecommunications Award In The USA Wellington – May 10, 2006 – Synapse Group, a leading provider of innovative contact management and directory platforms for global mobile carriers, has been selected as a finalist for Qualcomm’s BREW 2006 “Best Communications Application” award in San Diego with their phone book solution – EasyRoam http://www.synapsegroup.co.nz/easyroam.html.

The finalists are Synapse Group, KODAK Imaging Network (U.S.), and Sony Corporation/Media Socket Inc. (Japan) - http://brew.qualcomm.com/jsp/brew/en/press_room/press_releases/2006/05_08_06.html.

Judging is based on ease of use, originality, "cool" factor, features and "shows likelihood or evidence of commercial success."

EasyRoam addresses the absence of a + code capability in the CDMA networks globally. As mobile customers roam internationally, EasyRoam reconfigures their contacts with the relevant network access and international prefixes in a matter of seconds so that they can make international calls directly from their phone book.

It has been proven by carriers that roaming customers will make more calls if they are able to utilise their phone books when overseas – in turn significantly enhancing the end-user experience.

“EasyRoam significantly increases a carrier’s roaming revenues. It is also ideally suited to carriers who are implementing WorldMode™ devices and will allow carriers to secure even greater value from their WorldMode™ implementation,” said Mike Heath, Director – Sales & Marketing, Synapse Group.

“To be selected as a final for such an award on the international stage, in what is a very competitive and challenging telecommunications market, further endorses Synapse Group as leaders in the contact management field,” he said.

Synapse Group is currently engaged with major mobile operators in South America, North America, and Asia for their respective launches of EasyRoam.

Motorola Signs $33 Million Contract With NITEL For CDMA2000 1X Network In Nigeria

Motorola Signs $33 Million Contract With NITEL For CDMA2000 1X Network In Nigeria LAGOS, Nigeria – 9 May, 2006 – Nigeria Telecommunication Limited (NITEL) has signed a contract with Motorola for the deployment of a code division multiple access (CDMA) network across Lagos. By deploying a CDMA network, NITEL intends to increase its customer base from thousands to millions and offer richer, faster and more efficient services to Lagos’ mobile phone users.

The contract, which follows the $50 million GSM contract signed between Motorola and NITEL in 2003 builds upon a successful CDMA pilot project, and will allow NITEL to realize several key benefits including the ability to converge voice, data and video applications and also improve security and overall voice quality.

“As demand for wireless phones continues to grow across Nigeria, NITEL must meet this market need by expanding the service it provides,” says Chief Cornelius Adebayo, Nigeria’s Hon. Minister of Communications. “Motorola’s CDMA technology will achieve this aim, and enable us to complement our fixed line service with top-quality wireless phone services.”

"Motorola recognizes the crucial role that telecommunications plays in ensuring continued development in Nigeria and is helping NITEL achieve its plan to install six million telephone lines within the next three years,” said Raphael Udeogu, Motorola Nigeria Country Manager. “We are helping operators like NITEL continue the momentum towards developing fully converged core networks that will enable synchronized voice, data, and multimedia applications.”

NITEL expects its new technology platform, which is set to be implemented within four months, to add capacity for 300,000 new customers to its wireless network, and secure its leadership position in Africa by growing its subscriber base to one million.

“Today’s announcement will offer our customers a new wireless phone experience and will provide a platform which is compatible with future advancement of new applications and services,” said Albert Mashi, CEO, NITEL. “We have chosen Motorola to implement our CDMA network because they have both the technology and expertise to fulfill this important project, and their quick time-to-market will allow us to maintain our reputation for rapid, reliable results.”

Application Downloads With QUALCOMM’s BREW® Solution Surpass Three Million In Thailand On Hutch’s Advanced CDMA2000 1X Network

Application Downloads With QUALCOMM’s BREW® Solution Surpass Three Million In Thailand On Hutch’s Advanced CDMA2000 1X Network SAN DIEGO — May 09, 2006 — QUALCOMM Incorporated, a leading developer and innovator of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and other advanced wireless technologies, and Thailand's Hutchison CAT Wireless MultiMedia Ltd, a marketer of advanced wireless communication services riding on its CDMA2000 1X network under the “Hutch” brand, today announced that Hutchison CAT has surpassed three million paid downloads since launching advanced wireless data services enabled by QUALCOMM's BREW solution in November 2003. Active Hutchison CAT customers have purchased and downloaded an average of 10 applications each since launch, evidencing the quick adoption of the technology and the potential for monetization. The popularity of downloadable wireless content in Thailand is another strong indicator of the ongoing growth of BREW products and services.

The success of Hutchison CAT's wireless data products and services has stemmed largely from its commitment to offering subscribers advanced handsets and convenient plans, which in turn promote the growth of downloadable applications over its CDMA2000 network. To achieve this milestone, Hutchison CAT leveraged the increased revenue realized through application downloads and employed tactics such as offering a high-value promotion package to give existing and new subscribers the ability to purchase a BREW-capable handset. Hutchison CAT subscribers can now take advantage of compelling wireless applications such as ringtones, wallpapers and even a karaoke application on advanced handsets.

“QUALCOMM is gratified by Hutchison CAT's overall success and the positive growth it has achieved in application downloads since the launch of BREW services in 2003,” said Bob Briggs, senior vice president of global business relations and marketing for QUALCOMM Internet Services. “Hutchison CAT is committed to offering its wireless subscribers the innovative products and services that they demand through the availability of BREW applications and handsets.”

“The BREW solution has been a key differentiator for our advanced wireless data offerings and instrumental to the success of Hutchison CAT in the last three years,” said Mr. Thiraphant Sirisoonthornphibul, vice president of products and services development for Hutchison CAT Wireless MultiMedia Ltd. “Hutch is excited to have reached this figure in such a short amount of time, and we fully expect this number to grow considerably in the future, especially once CDMA technology is fully implemented nationwide.”
