CDMA Industry Achievement Awards Recognize Wireless Leaders For 3G Accomplishments and Advancements

Oliver Valente and Perry LaForge, presenters of the 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Awards.

Industry Leadership Award:
Given to the individual who has provided the most dynamic leadership in 3G industry activities, including contributions to standards development and the growth and evolution of 3G technologies.

Richard Lynch

Richard Lynch has been a long-standing contributor to the wireless industry. Most recently, as CTO of Verizon Wireless, he has led Verizon’s deployment of both CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO:

  • In 2002, Verizon Wireless launched the national Express Network – a CDMA2000 1X wireless data network. Verizon is offering pricing plans and device options to meet the varying needs of customers, such as an unlimited usage plan or one based on data used
  • This year, Richard continued to push 3G development by initiating plans to offer 1xEV-DO high-speed wireless data service for the mobile workforce that is comparable with wireline broadband connections. As of October, Verizon Wireless’ data customers in Washington and San Diego have been able to take advantage of the new 1xEV-DO service and applications

International Leadership Award:
