1998 CDMA Industry Achievement Awards
The 1998 CDMA Industry Achievement Awards were handed
out during a ceremony at the Museum of Flying in Santa
Monica, California, on November 18, 1998.

Overall Subscriber Growth Award:
Given to the company that has demonstrated significant
subscriber growth over the last year.
SK
Telecom, with 5.5 million customers - 4.7 million are digital and 800,000
million are analog customers.

Wireless Local Loop Subscriber Growth Award:
Given to the company that has demonstrated outstanding
work in deploying cdmaOne WLL systems.
 |
Centennial Communications, whose wireless telephone
subscribers grew 52.9% in the period August 1997
- August 1998. Puerto Rico provided 43.3% of that
growth. |

Subscriber Product Innovation Award:
Given to the company that has demonstrated forward thinking
in terms of services supported and terminal design.
Resulting products take advantage of the inherent benefits
and latest technological developments of cdmaOne, offering
consumers state of the art handsets in terms of both
features and packaging.
Qualcomm,
for the delivery of seven million cdmaOne phones since the company's inception,
with shipment quantities doubling from 1997 to 1998. Qualcomm also recently
introduced the pdQ CDMA digital smartphone, which combines the functions
of the PalmPilot and a CDMA phone.

Innovative Solutions Through Teamwork Award:
Given to the companies that have brought new ideas and
different approaches to product deployment by working
together to leverage the strengths and expertise of
their different companies. Resulting solutions provide
value-added, cost-effective implementations for operators
supporting the advancement of cdmaOne into the market.

Repeater Technologies and Nortel Networks,
for their work together to standardize CDMA repeater
products and to accelerate the deployment of cdmaOne
in outlying suburban and rural areas. |

Infrastructure Product Innovation Award:
Given to the company that has introduced network elements
that allow operators flexible and cost-effective solutions
for urban, suburban and rural implementations incorporating
today's advanced cdmaOne features with an easy evolution
path to future enhancements.
Samsung,
for the PicoBTS, which provides cellular and PCS operators
an exceptionally small and high-capacity platform, allowing
for maximum deployment flexibility.

Exceptional cdmaOne Branding Award:
Given to the companies that have most effectively utilized
the cdmaOne brand.
DDI Corporation and IDO Corporation, for incorporating
solid branding in their service launch in Japan with
the use of the cdmaOne logo on phones and as the name
of their service.

International Leadership Award:
Given to the company that has successfully helped in
the development and/or implementation of cdmaOne outside
of the company's headquarters region.
Lucent
Technologies, for locating manufacturing facilities at 60 sites in 21
countries, with a strong presence in the Americas and Asia-Pacific. Lucent
has been recognized globally for scientific discoveries and technological
innovations.
