Overview of OMH Device Variant Testing
This page summarizes the process for testing and accepting OMH device variants. Device variants are new devices that:
- Are based on a "parent device" that was previously accepted by the TAG
- Have only minor modifications relative to the previously accepted parent device (e.g. a device with a different PCB would not qualify as a variant)
- Do not need to be re-tested except for minor new/different functionality
For more detailed information about this process, refer to
CDG182 (OMH TAG Process Guide).
Device Variant Declaration and Acceptance Process
Step 1: Vendor Requests Variant Testing
- Vendor identifies the additional testing required for the device variant
- Vendor requests a CCF Authorized Testing Facility to perform the additional testing
Step 2: Variant Testing is Executed
- ATF performs the additional testing identified by the vendor
- All variant testing must be performed on the same binary
Step 3: Variant Test Results are Stored
- Vendor stores variant test results in a compliance folder
- Vendor makes variant test results available to TAG operators upon request
Step 4: Vendor Declares Variant Device to the TAG
Step 5: TAG Accepts the Variant Device
- TAG receives and reviews the completed variant declaration form from the vendor
- If there are any issues preventing acceptance, the TAG notifies the vendor
- Upon acceptance, the TAG provides the vendor with a Certificate of Acceptance
Step 6: Vendor Places the OMH Logo on Variant Devices or Packaging
- Vendor places the OMH logo on the accepted variant device, packaging, and associated marketing material
- For more information and usage guidelines associated with the OMH logo, refer to the OMH Brand Information
