3G World Congress – November 16-19, 2004
In connection with the 3G World Congress in Hong Kong, the CDG hosted a media
reception featuring executives from Ericsson, Lucent, QUALCOMM, Sprint and Verizon.
They discussed their network experiences and successes with CDMA2000. The reception
drew nearly 40 local media and other Congress-registered media including the
Asian Wall Street Journal, BBC, Bloomberg, BusinessWeek, CNBC Asia, CommsDay,Dempa
Shimbun, Economic Observer, Nikkei Electronics China, Reuters, Telecom Asia,
Telecom TV and Wireless Week. The CDG also met one-on-one with the Asian Wall
Street Journal, Financial Times, Reuters, South China Morning Post and Telecom
Asia and taped television broadcast interviews with BBC’s “Click
Online” and CNBC Asia’s “Generation e”.
3G in China – November 10, 2004
Hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (MII), the event drew
wireless delegates from all over the world. The CDG presented the status and
worldwide success of CDMA2000 and hosted a media roundtable discussion that
was attended by reporters from Dow Jones, Forbes China, Reuters and others.
Media roundtable participants Yiru Zhou, VP, CDMA Systems China, Ericsson; Kelvin
Ho, Director of Technical Marketing for Lucent Technologies China; and Frank
Meng, President of QUALCOMM China offered perspectives on the opportunities
for CDMA2000 in China.
2004 Telecom India – October 27-28, 2004
The CDG participated in a series of media interviews with Bharat B. Anand, Vice
President, Regulatory Affairs, Reliance Infocomm. We were joined by Ashok Sud,
Chief of Regulatory Affairs, Tata Teleservices. Press interviews were conducted
with Global Features/Global Technologies, Hindu- Business Line and Voice &
Data magazine. The CDG also presented at the conference on the status and opportunities
for CDMA2000 in India and worldwide.
New Delhi Media Visits – October 26, 2004
Prior to the 2004 Telecom India show in Mumbai, the CDG held a series of media
briefings with the participation of Bharat B. Anand, Vice President, Regulatory
Affairs, Reliance Infocomm. During the meetings with reporters from the Associated
Press, Business Express, Business World, Convergence Plus, Tele.net and the
Times of India, we presented a case for spectrum allocation by the Telecommunications
Regulatory Association of India (TRAI) at 1900 MHz.
ITU Telecom Asia (Busan, Korea) – September 7-11, 2004
The CDG presented a keynote during the “Making 3G Global” panel
session. The panel featured carriers from around the globe, presenting the benefits
of CDMA2000. At the conference, we also participated in media interviews with
the Asian Wall Street Journal, CNBC Asia and Dow Jones.
India – August 19, 2004
The CDG participated in interviews with Indian media including the Business
Standard, Business World, Convergence Plus, Hindu-Business Line and India Today.
China Press Tour – June 1-4, 2004
The CDG hosted a China press tour, visiting top-tier reporters in Beijing,
Shanghai and Hong Kong. Joining the CDG on the tour were member carriers, China
Unicom, KDDI, and Sprint. The tour began in Beijing, where the CDG held a media
roundtable briefing to further communicate CDMA2000® technology’s
progress in the region. Reporters in attendance at the media roundtable included
representatives from Dow Jones, Reuters, South China Morning Post, Xinhua News
Agency – among others. As part of the tour, the CDG participated in several
broadcast interviews, including CNBC China in Shanghai, as well as Bloomberg
TV and CNBC Asia in Hong Kong. Other media that participated in the tour included
Bloomberg, Forbes, Interfax, and Wall Street Journal.
3G China – June 1-2, 2004
The 3G China show in Beijing hosted wireless delegates from around the globe
and featured speaking opportunities from Perry LaForge and James Person of
the CDG. At the show, the CDG participated in a series of interviews with
top-tier media outlets including China Information World, Dow Jones and Reuters.
The CDG also hosted a media roundtable with participation from Perry LaForge
(CDG), Li Weichong (China Unicom), Yoichi Akatsuka (KDDI), and Steve Falk
(Sprint).
Chinese Media Delegation in Los Angeles – May 6, 2004
The CDG met with a delegation of eight Chinese journalists in Los Angeles on
May 6, 2004. Presentations on the CDG, CDMA2000 and the Asia Pacific landscape
were made by Perry LaForge and James Person of the CDG followed by a question
and answer session with the journalists. Participating journalists from the
delegation represented ChinaByte, China Computer World, China Electronics
News, China Information World, Communications Weekly, Communications World
and Telecom World.
IA 450 Plenary – April 20-21, 2004
The CDG co-hosted the IA 450 conference on April 20-22 in Shenzhen, China.
The plenary meeting and conference focused on CDMA2000 deployments in the
450 MHz band (CDMA450) and featured more than 200 attendees from governments,
operators and vendors. CDMA450 has now been deployed in countries across
Europe and Asia, including Belarus, Czech Republic, Georgia, Indonesia, Poland,
Romania, Russia, Tibet and Vietnam.

3G World Congress – November 3-7, 2003
The 3G World Congress is the leading wireless event in Asia. In 2003, the
event was held in Bangkok and more than 2,000 delegates attended the conference
sessions, exhibits and workshops. The program featured case studies from leading 3G carriers,
technology evolution and implementation strategies for network and service
providers and how to capitalize on 3G to stimulate growth and revenues. Attendees
heard in-band migration success stories of CDMA2000 from carriers, including
China Unicom, KDDI and Sprint PCS. They also learned how CDMA2000 carriers
are driving their data revenue from advanced applications and services. Host-city
CDMA service provider Hutchison CAT announced its latest international roaming
agreement with Sprint PCS in the United States. Additionally, the CDG participated
in one-on-one media briefings with Associated Press, Bangkok Post, BBC, Bloomberg,
Dow Jones, Reuters and a press roundtable with a delegation of top-tier Chinese
journalists.
Hong Kong Press Tour – November 3-4, 2003
The objective of the Hong Kong press tour was to meet with top-tier business
press in Hong Kong and discuss CDMA2000 technology in Asia prior to the 3G
World Congress. Participants in the interviews were Perry LaForge of the CDG
and Bill Blessing and Len Lauer of Sprint. They had the opportunity to meet
with representatives from AFX Asia, Bloomberg News (radio and television),
Business Week, CNBC, CNN, Dow Jones, Financial Times, Forbes, South China Morning
Post, and Xinhua News Agency.
Japan Media Visits – October 24, 2003
Capitalizing on the global success of CDMA2000, the CDG hosted a Tokyo media
day. The CDG met with top-tier business press including Asian Wall Street Journal,
Associated Press, Bloomberg, Reuters and Time Magazine. Participants included
Perry LaForge (CDG), Steve Falk (Sprint), Dr. Hideo Okinaka (KDDI), Dr. Myung
Sung Lee (SK Telecom), and Wang Jianzhou (China Unicom).

Asia Press Tour – September 2002
The CDG participated in a three-day, three-country press tour in Japan, Korea
and Singapore to further communicate the worldwide deployment of CDMA2000 and
the technology's leadership position in enabling 3G services. Participants
included Ericsson, KDDI, LG Electronics, LG Telecom, Lucent Technologies, Nortel
Networks, Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom. In addition, the CDG
participated in one-on-one media interviews with BBC, BusinessWeek, CNBC, Dow
Jones and Forbes.
3G World Congress – June 2002
The 2002 event had a delegation attendance of more than 1,700 - more than any
World Congress to date. In addition there were more than 225 media and analysts
present with representation from BusinessWeek, Forbes, Wall Street Journal,
Far Eastern Economic Review, South China Morning Post, Dow Jones, Bloomberg,
and Reuters, as well as live broadcasts from the show floor and in-studio on
CNN, CNBC Asia, BBC, HKTV, TVB and others.
Asia Press Tour – April 2002
The objective of the Tokyo and Hong Kong press tour was to further educate
the top-tier global press on CDMA2000 1X technology. The launch of KDDI's CDMA2000
1X network provided an optimal opportunity for these activities. The tour included
a press briefing in Tokyo and one-on-one interviews in Hong Kong. Participants
included Ikuyoshi Ioue (KDDI), Andy Seybold (Forbes/ Wireless Outlook), Jeff
Belk (QUALCOMM) and Terry Yen (CDMA Development Group).
China Congress – March 2002
China CDMA 2002 featured operators and vendors from China and greater Asia
who explored the opportunities and future development for CDMA in the world's
largest mobile communications market. The conference, which attracted more
than 500 attendees, took place on March 7-8 in Beijing.
China CDMA Test Forum held March 6, also in Beijing, provided an opportunity
to familiarize Chinese handset and infrastructure vendors with CDG certification
and testing processes. Thom Erickson, leader of the CDG mobile station certification
team, John Fessler, leader of the CDG system test team, Wei Ran, director of
MTNet lab at RITT, and member test equipment vendors Anritsu, Ericsson, Qualcomm,
Racal Instruments, Rohde & Schwarz and Spirent Communications, presented.
