Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited is the operating unit for managing Hutchison Whampoa Group's wireless communications operations in Hong Kong, Macau and Greater China. The Company is the largest mobile operator in Hong Kong, which is one of the most important telecommunications hubs as well as business centres in Asia. Hutchison Telecom provides superior GSM Dualband and CDMA services with superb network quality and the widest international roaming coverage under the "Orange" brand.

Hutchison Telecom pioneered the world's first CDMA commercial network in October 1995 and unveiled Asia's first Dualband network, Orange, in September 1998. It was also the first company in Hong Kong to run three digital mobile networks (GSM900/1800 & CDMA) simultaneously.

Hutchison Telecom is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive services for mobile users. In May 2000, with the support of its strategic partner NTT DoCoMo, Hutchison Telecom launched "Orangeworld" wirefree internet service as a groundbreaking initiative in the development of the mobile Internet market in Hong Kong. In August 2000, the Company introduced Hong Kong's first packet data mobile service with 2.5G technology, offering mobile users the territory's fastest data transmission speed of up to 64 kbps. In August 2001, the Company pioneered the territory's first GPRS handset with Kjava applications, as well as GPRS and IS95B roaming service. The Company also leads the market by offering a wide spectrum of leading-edge short messaging services, m-commerce and mobile multimedia applications, as well as being the world's first mobile operator to be appointed the certified Registration Authority for the issuance of Mobile e-Certs.

Hutchison Telecom was awarded a second-generation mobile phone licence in Macau in October 2000, and officially launched its GSM dualband mobile service in the territory in August 2001.
