CDMA Development Group Announces Winners of 2010 Smart Wireless Awards

Modules

AnyData Corporation
Partner: Qualcomm

AnyDATA’s DTW-500D Wearable Mobile Device Module utilizes a Qualcomm design to provide a smaller form factor at a lower cost and includes an accelerometer, R-UIM interface, GPS for location-based services and a built-in Bluetooth 2.0 capability. These features, combined with an EV-DO Rev. A radio interface, enable a new type of wearable device for medical, fitness, and tracking applications.

Devices

MedApps Incorporated
Partner: KORE Telematics, Inc.
MedApps’ HealthPAL MA106 Remote Patient Monitoring Device uses CDMA2000 1X and Bluetooth to track and send medical data to a Web-based electronic health record system over KORE Telematics’ CDMA2000 M2M mobile network. MedApps’ HealthCOM portal makes automated calls if a patient has not taken his health readings and visually prompts healthcare providers to respond proactively, making it easier to avert escalating conditions. HealthCOM can redirect medical readings to other electronic and personal health records and provide data trend analysis and detailed reporting features. HealthPAL has allowed elderly people to live in their own homes longer; reduced healthcare costs and readmissions to hospitals; lowered home health provider transportation costs and emergency visits; and enabled doctors and healthcare providers to make better data-driven diagnostic health decisions.

Services

ZTE Corporation and China Telecom
ZTE and China Telecom cooperatively built the Wireless Vehicle Monitoring and Management System to solve traffic congestion and guarantee vehicle security during the Shanghai Expo 2010. By using China Telecom’s CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev. A network and ZTE’s M2M Service Support Platform, this vehicle monitoring service can conduct real-time tasks such as vehicle video viewing, long-distance security detection, operating status reporting, GPS positioning and dispatching. Vehicle companies which have adopted this service experience increased vehicle management efficiency and enhanced security of their vehicles and its passengers.
