Industry Leadership:
This award is given to the individual who has provided the most dynamic leadership in 3G industry activities, including contributions to standards development and the growth and evolution of 3G CDMA technologies.
 
 

Wang Xiaochu, President – China Telecommunications Corporation
Mr. Wang Xiaochu has led China Telecom’s nationwide deployment of CDMA2000 1X and EV-DO. In doing so, he has strengthened the CDMA2000 device ecosystem and championed the development of innovative services that set China Telecom apart from other Chinese carriers. With his efforts, China Telecom has improved the quality of the user experience, enabling the operator to double its subscriber base in 2009.

 
Operator Leadership:
This award is given to the operators that have demonstrated leadership in the wireless community through the expansion of 3G CDMA system deployments and/or the unique implementation of 3G CDMA technologies in a specific market.
 
 

China Telecommunications Corporation
Taking advantage of its extensive resources and facilities, China Telecom has demonstrated a focus on customer needs, product innovation and abundance of services. In 2009, China Telecom added more subscribers than any other CDMA operator in the world and now counts nearly 70 million customers. With this growth rate, China Telecom is poised to move up from its number two position among CDMA operators within the next year. China Telecom places a strong emphasis on international roaming, including inter-standard roaming, and also in expanding the number of device types available to over 100.


 

Subscriber Technology Innovation:
This award is given to the company that has demonstrated innovative thinking in terms of services supported and terminal design. Resulting products take advantage of the inherent benefits and latest technological developments of 3G CDMA.

Motorola’s DROID handset is designed to set a new standard in smartphones with superior speed, power and features. The device is powered by a Cortex A8 processor with dedicated hardware acceleration for a quick and fluid graphics experience. This is part of a new processor family that can deliver up to three times the performance of a typical ARM11-based processor. DROID also features a 550 MHz speed DSP, enabling consumers to experience a faster, richer, more responsive mobile device, designed as a no-fuss high-tech machine.


 

Network Technology Innovation:
This award is given to the company that has introduced network capabilities that allow 3G CDMA operators flexible and cost-effective solutions for implementing advanced features and an easy evolution path to future network enhancements.

 
 

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
As verified by recent launches, including the world's first commercially-ready CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision B network, the world's first CDMA-LTE multi-mode trial for a U.S. carrier and a leading-edge SingleRAN solution for a smooth CDMA network and industry evolution to LTE, Huawei has consistently displayed pioneering CDMA network innovation. Continuing notable R&D since 1995, Huawei's sustained advancement of CDMA technology and support of the global ecosystem has spurred rising worldwide subscriber levels and new network launches, particularly during the past few years.

 
Innovation in Wireless Social and Economic Solutions Development:
This awards is given to the business, infrastructure, device or application developer that has leveraged the capabilities of the 3G CDMA wireless medium to offer innovative mobile services that improve the social and/or economic well-being or advancement of people, communities or target segments. Qualifications include enhanced user interface, positive impact, breadth of applicability, scalability, uniqueness and sustainability.
 
 
BAKRIE TELECOM
Bakrie Telecom (BTEL), in collaboration with Qualcomm, Grameen Foundation and a local Indonesian social enterprise, Rekan Usaha Mikro Anda (RUMA), is working to harness the power of telecommunications growth to improve the lives and livelihoods of poor people in Indonesia. Uber Esia is a new product launched by BTEL and distributed through the RUMA network that is a complete “business-in-a-box” kit that delivers a mobile phone, promotional materials, training materials, log books, and all other equipment and materials necessary to successfully run a micro-business. KDDI’s “EZ News EX” is an innovative information service that promptly delivers flash news bulletins, detailed news articles and rich content such as news video clips to handsets. In addition to news, every morning EZ News EX brings topics suited to an individual’s interests. The service surpassed 500,000 subscribers in February 2010.

 
Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd.
Launched by Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd. in early 2010, Photon TV is an innovative consumer offering that facilitates entertainment on-the-move via live TV programs, ranging from sports to news to entertainment and more.
